Sony Tries to be Like Nintendo.... and Fails.

Why must we bash sony so? Give them a break, this isn't a good time for them.

They'll get back on their feet in a few years when ps4 or whatever comes out.

They may not last that long. They're bleeding cash in part because of the struggles of both the PSP and PS3. And because their music section is also struggling.

Hence why Sony Wonder, closed its doors not too recently.

If by 'awesome' you mean, it makes an awesome doorstop then yes I agree. As far as a gaming console, I'd rather have a Game Gear or SNK's ill-fated little portable system Sony's POS.

It's more capable than a DS ever will be. It has a true online mode, can play movies, and has better looking games. Hell, it's has an entire Genre of games that the POS DS doesnt have. I can log onto HJU with a PSP and make posts. You cant do that on a DS. For a portable gaming system, it's about killing time when you're on the go and somewhere without plugs. PSP demolishes the DS in terms of usefulness. DS, you cant play ANYONE across the net without some bull **** friend code.

I think that's just it: it depends what you intend to do with your portable console:
- If you want a portable multimedia device that also plays games, the PSP is your thing.
- If you don't care about multimedia so much but want fun and inovative games, then the DS is for you.

I'm a gamer and don't use multimedia on the go so much, so I chose a DS over the PSP. But I can understand why some people would prefer a PSP ...

1. By this summer you will be able to surf the net on your DS and easier thanks to the stylus interface.

2. Movies is a decent edge, but word is with the UMD and the PSP's battery life how it is, you're out of power after one movie.

3. You can have better looking games all you want, but 3D doesn't necessarily make it better looking automatically. Me, I've seen some ugly as hell and jagged stuff on there although the platform is coming into its own. Fact is tho, the DS's library of AAA titles that're fun outweigh the PSP by a metric ton. Not to mention the games are geared for pick up and play where PSP is console gaming on a smaller screen and no second analog controller.

4. Friend codes are nothing, dude. And I'm willing to bet there are more games of Mario Kart and Pokemon gaming/trading that there's any net gaming on the PSP.

5. In terms of fun, the DS is king. You go to an anime convention and every third person is packing a DS while you may see a PSP 1 out of every.... 20.... maybe. I can't tell you how many DS's I saw being played, but I could count pretty easily the PSP's I saw and that was under five.

DS is unstoppable.

Although........ sounds like around this Christmas the PSP is finally really coming into its own and some killer games coming out for it. But when it comes to overall satisfaction.... there's a reason why the DS is fast becoming the best selling system of all time, second only to the GameBoy. :169:

The GameBoy proved that when it come to portables 'l33t graphix' don't mean jack... if it was the case the colored Game Gear and the Nomad AKA portable Genesis would have been more popular.

The UMB format is being abandoned by companies all over the place. soon the only company using it will be Sony.

The DS is the better gaming experience, while the PSP is the better portable media player. Heck I bet most owner don't even PLAY games on their PSP!!
