So, about the identity of Decade's episode 1 Wataru...

Not messed in the sense of keeping Tetsuo Kurata and his badassery around. However as a whole, Black RX was supposedly a mutated version of Black hence...
Some years after Black's timeline, the Crisis Empire came to Earth to invade it. Minami tried to fight CE but then he was captured. His Kingstone was somewhat destroyed and some time later, he got thrown into space where his Kingstone underwent a cosmic mutation that turned him into Black RX.
.

But in Decade, Black RX and Black were separate entities and never were they one.
When do they say that? From what I thought, Black RX is THE Black RX we know and love.
Black's origin is as follows:
Kasumi no Joe suddenly got himself into a world portal or something else, which made him end up in another timeline.
Due to him arriving before some events took place, the world screwed up and a new Minami Kotaro was born. This Kotaro didn't get touched by CE, because CE never arrived there, they were already with DaiShocker and that world was already different. Thus, this is a Minami Kotaro that remained as Black, but with a comrade in Kasumi no Joe nonetheless.
Black RX is the original one, while Black is an AU Kotaro (a very important one nonetheless)

I always thought that RX's world was an AU version, due to Kotaro being done with both Golgom & Crisis in the original one.

Either way, with this new light, I can see Seto Koji as THIS:

Wataru: =3
Wataru (Decade): l=3 (the l representing a "neutral face")
Wataru (Decade mistake, aka eps 31): >=3
Seto Koji cosplaying as Monkey D. Luffy: cl=3 (the cl being a...very disproportional straw hat)

And Seto Koji himself: X3

But, why X3 ?

Because he's always smiling.

And at one time in a D-Boys video, he closed his eyes, and he looked like X3 and I was all =D. I think it was when he was cooking, and he was chopping onions and was close to crying,

His mouth always looks like a 3 shape, so I always see him as =3.

RX World might be an AU (or not), but that RX probably was a Black in the past. Tsukasa gets a blacked out Kamen Rider Black card when he gets to the RX World. Why would he get that card if that world never had a Black?

The only other times we saw blacked out Kamen Ride cards were in the Nega World and in the Hibiki World. In the Hibiki World, Hibiki's card became black when Hibiki became Gyuuki... So Black's card fading out because Kotaro became RX is somewhat consistent (Although Gyuuki was a monster, not an upgrade).

I always thought that RX's world was an AU version, due to Kotaro being done with both Golgom & Crisis in the original one.

The Crisis Emperor promised they'd return as long as Earth didn't change its ways... The Crisis Empire came from an alternate Earth, after all.

Their return at least would have a slightly better basis on the original series than all the random Imagins in the Den-O sequels, even though they were erased from time in the original finale.

Fans have spent nearly twenty years trying to figure out how the original Black and Black RX relate to each other. Trying to figure out how it worked in Decade is going to be pretty difficult.

All that's clear in Black RX is that Black happened first, at some indeterminate point in the past, and Kotaro doesn't seem to care much about the events of that show anymore 'cause he's kind of abandoned his entire supporting cast. I don't think he mentions Nobuhiko at any point in Black RX, either.

Decade gives the impression that they're totally separate stories somehow, probably to please Black fans who detest Black RX. I just don't think you're supposed to think about it too hard, or it's just really nonsensical.

Shadow Moon does return in RX, I just can't remember if Kotaro mentioned Nobuhiko's name or just called him Shadow Moon.

I do remember a hilarious bit when he talks about how Shadow Moon was an enemy with honor in the past and how the current one had no heart... which is incridebly wrong to anyone who has watched Black.

Yeah, I knew about the Shadow Moon stuff. Just... you know, Kotaro never mentions his brother, who died. I know they wanted Black RX to be more upbeat, but that's just really weird to me.

Shadow Moon coming back is also pretty questionable given Black's ending, but Black RX was a sillier show all-around.

Yeah, indeed! Even in official drawings

I was just wondering about the meaning of X, so it just means a laughing face.

So I guess now at least I know why I was confused after finishing Decade. This show could have really been better if not for those plotholes IMHO.

i agree Musashi-kun. but that is writer and Toei's idea makes even weirder. come to think of it the writer need to focus on writing the story plot than stupid toy commercials. still at least Kenzaki and Wataru were original Riders since episode 1 and final.
