Should Sentai Follow Kamen Rider's Lead?

By which I mean having a few heroes (like three, for Sentai) with a bunch of form changes to account for the toys the show is supposed to hock to kids, but at the same time, allowing it to be done in a way that is more organic to the show's story.

It seems to be working well enough for Kamen Rider, after all.

Sentai won't need form changes as long as they have mecha. Most of the non-roleplay Sentai toys seem to be focused on the mecha these days, not the Sentai warriors themselves, that's why things like support vehicles have disappeared.

Anyway, I'd just like to see the Sentai robots using form changes in a way closer to the good form changing Kamen Riders, actively swapping forms during battle, rather than sticking with only one mode. They also could start up with some of the basic form changes already.

Kind of hard to do when the whole point is to have multiple team members. "Sentai" translates into Task Force, Squadron, Battle Team, and other similar meanings. Smallest team we've ever seen is a team of 3, which isn't traditional either since there's a big roman numeral V (Five) in the official SUPER SENTAI SERIES logo.

But it might be interesting, keeping teams to their smallest numbers and trying to flush them out more. Just as long as the gimmick doesn't get in the way of the story or character development.

I was actually thining about something like that the other day ago when I was playing Final Fantasy X-2 since that had three characters that can form change in the heat of battle.

The amount of mecha and toy weapons that cluster into a giant one works just as well as form changes if not better. It's just that more people are interested in Rider S.H. Figuarts than Sentai ones.

Gimme a 3 Ranger team again with a few power ups and I'm fine with that.

I don't know why Toei has not thought about this yet, but form changing could be a gold-mine for them.
Think about it. Each member of the team gets a form changing ability. When they pilot their mecha, they can transfer that ability to it. So for example, if a member change into... lets say a water form while piloting his/her mecha, then the mecha would automatically change into a water-mode as well.

Another thing I want to see in Sentai, is the heroes working separately before becoming a team.
This would of course require all of them to have humanoid mecha. We have not had that for long, so it would be a welcoming change.

Episode 1 - 10 - Each character gets 2 episodes

Episode 11 - 20 - The heroes start interacting with each other. Some get along, some don't. 2-combo or 3-combo mecha will be introduced

Episode 21 - 22 - The team has to work together for the first time. The all-combined robo is finally introduced.

Episode 23 - 30 - Focus on the team working together.

Episode 31 - 32 - sixth hero shows up

Episode 33 - 49 - Revelations. Final battle etc.

if Sentai ever uses a formula like Kamen Rider, Toei has gone from bad to worse. I don't think I'll be pleased to see metallic armour as suits either. Kamen Rider is more flexible, no matter how much changes it goes through, it'll still be Kamen Rider. but Sentai is different, make a slight change, it'll look like something other than Sentai.
