I love both bands, but Black Flag is the best punk band in my opinion, while the most "legendary" would be the Ramones.

Of the two, I prefer the Sex Pistols' album. The Clash, I only really like their first album, and only bits and pieces of their others. I'll leave it at that, because I find I always piss people off when I talk about music. :shrug:

Black Flag is a hardcore punk band, so they can't really be compared to groups like The Clash, The Pistols, The Misfits, or The Adicts. The style is too different. Same with The Ramones. God love 'em, that was a pop-rock band.
My all-time favorite classic punk band is either The Misfits or The Adicts. But of the poll options, I like The Clash a lot more. They were doing really interesting things with musical stylings around then time that roots reggae and blues were being popularized in England and so their tunes have a lot more depth than the Pistols, who were always more image than quality sound and probably led to the perception that punk rockers were all angry, raggedy street urchins rebelling against anything and everything. It's all because of that backwards, no-good fucker Sid Vicious; guy was and still is worshipped as a punk idol and he couldn't even play bass. Bass. Arguably the easiest mainstream instrument to play. When a dude like that is recognized as one of the genre's most identifiable heroes and most people don't even know the name Glenn Danzig... I just don't know anymore, man...

That's probably true. But he wasn't even an interesting train wreck, just a drug-addled talentless junkie waste with bad taste in women.

Your point about Danzig is a good one. I was talking to a co-worker about him the other day, she'd asked about a misfits shirt I was wearing. I'd mentioned the song Mother to give her a point of reference. She thought that Danzig was a band, and that Zakk Wylde was the lead singer. :redface2:

Yeah I realize, I mean that she thought "Danzig" was just the name of the band and not someone in the band's name. Obviously I don't need to say this, but she's a fucking moron.
