Sega Saturn

Sega Saturn!? Now we're talking! The Saturn is my favorite game system EVAR. It was woefully underrated although that's primarily due to the incredible import line-up.

I used to have quite a collection before selling off a lot of it before I got married. Of course I completely regret selling it all now but at that put I had pretty much planned to get out of video game hoarding/collecting.

I do pirate Saturn stuff (and nothing else anymore other than cartridge roms), but it's mostly because of how ungodly expensive the best/rarest games are. More often than not, I'll buy the game if the price is still reasonable (i.e. under $75 or so), but I don't see myself shelling out $250 for Panzer Dragoon Saga or Radiant Silvergun again. I did own actual copies at one point when the games were brand new so I don't feel THAT bad. Then again, I did recently pay $200 for a copy of Hyper Duel so I guess if I have the money I'll still spend it on something I love.

Anyway, Saturn stuff is very hard to come by now. You can always check local pawn shops or donation stores (Goodwill, Salvation Army) and sometimes find the more common US games.

The Goatstore
also has a decent selection of US Saturn stuff, but none of the rare games. It may not look it but the site's legit, I know the guy that runs it.

For imports, eBay is still the most common place to find stuff.
Like Keith said, Mad-Gear is awesome and his stuff is in some of the best condition I've ever seen. His prices are usually pretty reasonable too. I don't think he keeps his site updated, but email him and he'll usually try to find what you want.

I won auctions this past week for Shining the holy ark and Albert odyssey. I got holy ark already. Both of them for under 40 bucks each ;P

Nice! I never did play Albert Odyssey but I always liked Holy Ark a lot. Yet another I never should have sold. Sigh... The graphics might not look so good nowadays though... pre-rendered sprites on low-poly 3D backgrounds... ick. They should've just made everything on Saturn 2D, it sure excelled at it!

If you like pinball track down a copy of Last Gladiators Digital Pinball, it can usually be found for around $10. One of the best video pinball games I've ever played and one of my favorite Saturn games. It also had an import only sequel called Necronomicon Digital Pinball.

What I really want to get is the Japanese Import Phantasmagoria. It was a US PC game way back when. One of those FMV games, but I loved it. I know they ported it to Saturn, but only in Japan.

I've been trying to track that one down since I got my Saturn, either to buy, or download. :/

Definitely contact Carlson at Mad-Gear, he might be able to help you out.

Necronomicon is fantastic and has better physics, but I like Last Gladiators a little bit more. Here's some trivia... KaZe released an upgraded version of LG in Japan called Last Gladiators 9.7 that uses the upgraded physics engine from Necro. I've only seen one copy show up on eBay and thankfully I managed to snag it. :coolshades: It makes the game a lot tougher, but less glitchy.
