You and me both. Failed math in grade 9 as well, and got a tutor from my parents that I'll never forget.

CRETINS! ALL OF THEM!
I took the hard math (436) in my second to last year in high school (which is the last math class you actually need to get your diploma around here) and passed it, but since I didn't do THAT good it wasn't recommanded I take the hard math (536) the next year (people who don't take 436 in the right year take it in the last year and 536 is an important recquirement for science programs later on) so I took the easy 514 math. Let me tell you it was EASY! We had 1 less math class per week than everybody else, so that one class got replaced by a study period, but due to some scheduling snafu once every two week we had no one to watch over us!
We realized this was a blessing we should be careful to maintain so we made darn sure no one noticed. We would put out a fake attendance sheet outside the class, keep the noise down and not wander off so we could do whatever the heck we wanted. Man that year was fun XD
