Saying "Thank You" is dying out?

It is considered one of the basics of politeness, but saying "thank you" may be dying out, according to new research.

Rather than failing to show gratitude, however, we are simply using other words. In fact, one in three people say they usually use another word to express gratitude.

Among the most popular phrases were the less formal “ta†and “cool†as well as the French word “merciâ€.

Although the average Briton still says thank you up to 5,000 times a year, the results indicate an increasingly casual way of speaking, with 40 per cent believing they use “thank you†less than previous generations.

The poll by television channel Food Network UK to coincide with the launch of Thank You Day also showed that one in 20 said “nice one†instead.

But 95 per cent still believe good manners are important and eight in 10 Britons say they are polite.

Sadly I fear this is true. Promoting 'Stranger Danger' awareness in children is good at the time to keep them away from suspicious folk but consequently it leads on in Adult life that everyone is wary of each other and trusting no-one leading to a decline in manners and politeness. :disappoin

It's because parents want their children to be afraid of the entire world and aren't prepare in the least for it. I don't trust people until I talk to them. IF they are sensible and kind and are legit, I trust them. But if not, I back away.

I always am courteous and I cannot help it. It was how I was raised and how my children and their children will be as well. The world might be a rather fucked up place with screwed up people, but it is our world and these are our people and we cannot run from that. There are also many good people out there too who genuinely want to help others, but because of this bullshit , they make more people afraid and thus give the scumbags more opportunities to harm society.

The best way to describe this is " To have loved and lost than to have not loved at all." People are afraid that their little tikes might risk hurting themselves in the experiences but if you keep on holding them back , it will only hurt them far more. It's convenient to learn the easy way, but the hard way lets you in on to the cues of who is a douchebag and who is not.

If the child is not allowed to learn this, how can they learn to cope with it/ deal with once it happens? When they get killed behind a tree or shot in the head by their supposed friend and robbed?
