I don't remember when this show played on Cartoon Network, but I HAVE heard of this series before.
HOWEVER, I was unaware that it was published in Shonen Jump. And that gets my interest a bit. I gotta have my Jump.
I know I'm still relatively new here, but my main forum (which I would go to first for advice on stuff like anime) is doing some maintenance. Thought I'd bring it up here. No one over there seems to bother with this one, anyway.
This series sounds like a male version of Sailor Moon, honestly. It IS classic Jump, so that means I have to give it a chance.
Does anyone think I'll like it? If it helps, the kind of action stuff I'm into are Fullmetal Alchemist, Dragonball, and One Piece. Outside of that, I like stuff like Yankee-kun to Megane-chan, Eyeshield 21, Dr. Slump, and Bakuman.
Can I get some non-spoiler background on this series?

The series is known in some places as Knights of the Zodiac.
Saint Seiya is pretty much about the Saints of Athena, warriors clad in Cloths (actually really shiny armor) based on constellations (Pegasus, Andromeda, Cygnus, to name a few) that devote their lives to protecting the human incarnation of the goddess Athena and protecting the world from Greek mythology-derived threats and stuff. It's got a modern day-setting, but rarely steps into modern-day location and places, favoring outdoor settings, classical architecture, greek-styled temples and whatnot. It's also steep in stuff derived from Greek mythology.
It's one of those battle manga genre classics alongside Dragon Ball, so you probably won't have a problem getting into it, judging from your list.
Omega's got a brand new cast of characters and (so far) has only a few connection to the past series. It's more like a re-imagining, with some parts of the mythos revamped, so it's a good start for jumping on to the series.

Argh! The fanboy in me loved today's episode! :castlerock:
Ryuho's entrance was awesome and we even got a flashback of both Shiryu and Shunrei.
It was great to see Kouga getting his own attack, but it was even better seeing Ryuho use Rozan's Rising Dragon! :buttrock:
There was one thing that did bothered me about the episode though and that was the fight itself. It was pretty much just Ryuho standing in place and pushing Kouga away. I know that Ryuho is not a character that's suppose to be moving around (having a weak body), but still...
On a curious note, Shiryu was shown wearing a the "classic" (armor) version of the Dragon Cloth (either V2 or V3).
One last thing... Ichi as a student ROTFL :laugh:

Episode 4 was a lot better than last weeks, though Kouga's weakness is getting a bit annoying.
And I'm not liking the fact that Ryuho is the Shuu of this new group :/
He's just too passive to be the Dragon Saint IMO.
Hopefully he has a berserk button or something like that.
Don't worry, if it wasn't for the nostalgia factor, I would drop this show in a heartbeat

Episode 4 was pretty cool. Ryouho is an, er, interesting character. I like that they gave the typical cool character a pretty massive hinderence in his sickness. Kouga's Flash Fist looks awesome, I'm glad he didn't just stick to the Pegasus Meteor Fist and managed to do something original. (and more b-list original series cameos, woo!)
Tournament is starting soon! That sounds...kinda underwhelming, but hopefully this is one of those shows that can turn traditional stuff on its head. If not, it's at least really pretty to look at. I guess the show's been so good at integrating its fighting into an original premise up to now that I forgot how much of the original series was literally just fight after fight after fight.
