Question, do I need to watch any of the older Saint Seiya Series in order to understand this one?

It seems like its a standalone reboot from the looks of it that while it is in the same universe and continuity , you don't need to see the first. I just read Wikipedia and the Wikia of the series, though.

I never seen the first one either, but its like the original trilogy versus the prequels of Star Wars: you don't need to see the prequels in order to enjoy the last three episodes, but if you are info-savvy, you might want to.

Omega is a standalone series and draws from the continuity of the old anime series ^^

I do have a like and dislike relationship to Omega. While some parts of it are good, some parts are just "meh". None of the characters have that thing which makes them special in a sense that they would be the main figure which would come to everyone's mind when they talk about Omega.

Okay maybe Yuna's pre cure dress, but otherwise no xD

Gott hand it to Omega though that some of the attacks are neat, i really liked Eden's Orions Devestation.

And now that the scene in the second opening with Genbu and Kiki makes all sorts of sense.

Rumors are flying around that Omega's getting a second year. I don't know how true those are, but we're getting close to February and there don't seem to be any rumors on a replacement show.

A couple of months ago, Toei's chairman was talking about the Saint Seiya CGI movie (which is set to come out this summer) and mentioned that Toei plans to make a new Saint Seiya anime series this summer, but they never specified if it was another season for Omega, the adaptation of one of the manga series, or a brand new series.

Since there, there have been rumors that the summer series is going to be the anime adaptation for Next Dimension (which is both a canonical prequel and sequel of the original anime).

First time I hear about rumors of Omega getting another season, I've assumed that it will end between March and April and be replaced by the new Sailor Moon series. I would like Omega to continue, though :anime:
