Why, is Yato based off his character?

Yeah, most of the characters in Lost Canvas are based on their counterparts in the classic anime/manga.

The difference between Jabu and Yato is that the latter is technically a main character.

Well, it's not secret that Kurumada was making up the manga as he went along.

Some of the rumored changes:

-Aioria was going to be the protagonist.
-There was only going to be one Gold Cloth (Sagittarius).
-Kurumada liked the anime-only character "Ohko" so much that he based to characters in the manga after him.
-(After he decided to make 12 Gold Saints) All the Gold Saints were going to die by the end of the Battle of the Twelve House.
-(After he decide not to kill the Gold Saints) The Gold Saints were not going to appear again.
-Lyre Orphee was added to the manga based on a movie-only character from the 1st movie which Kurumada had designed.


Most of the rumored changes seem to be based around the Gold Saints. Apparently Kurumada never expected how popular they would become.

Episode 24: Re-encounter! The journey toward the Lightning Ruins!
Chasing after Eden and Aria, the group heads toward the Lightning Ruins. Shaina, Kouga’s master and the Silver Saint of Ophiuchus, awaits for them. Kouga cheerfully introduces his friends to Shaina. Shaina feels proud of Kouga’s evolution and feels that his new comrades are worthy Saints. Thinking that they all deserve to know the truth, she reveals the secret of the birth of Kouga.

Episode 25: Unknown territory! The time of fated meetings!
The group clashes with Eden, but they are suddenly engulfed by a mysterious darkness. Yuna, Ryuho and Haruto regain consciousness and find themselves in a place they don’t recognize. Looking for their companions, they eventually reach a huge door. As they open it, they are surrounded by a dark aura. Separated again, each of them must face the trauma of their past.

Episode 26: Title Undecided
Souma and Sonia are absorbed by the darkness and they get to see the days of the past. Sonia, daughter of Mars, who has been training since her early childhood receives her first mission from her stepmother Medea: kill a Saint. The truth of the day Kazuma, Silver Saint of the Southern Cross, was killed by Sonia is revealed!

Episode 27: Title Undecided
Umakoshi is in the animation seat again and it's the last episode before the new opening so it's bound to be a big one.

To accompany Omega, the original manga will be re-issued again every other Friday in Shounen Jump Remix.

Starting from episode 28, Omega's opening will change to NewΩMyth (Next Generation) by the group √５.

The single for the new song will be released in December 5th.
