S.H.Figuarts - News and Reviews

Well, since you asked,

Blade:
Better (and wider) head sculpt (Like Garren, but with a better clear piece)
Alternate (smaller) Blay Rouzer to go in the scabbard when not in use
Better minor detail-work (like on the legs and forearms)
Better proportions (a la Kuuga Renewal)
No stickers on the card piece
A more realistic card piece (that doesn't need to move the hilt detail up)
An effect part for a Lightning Slash

The only thing I can agree with is the lack of stickers. The proportions on Blade are perfectly fine.

The head sculpt is definitely too small and the paint on his cheeks is slightly inaccurate. I don't feel like making comparison pictures at the moment but it's really easy to see. And for whatever reason, his neck articulation is **** compared to his King form.

I feel like most of that is mindless nit picking. Nothing is going to be 100% perfect, so you will have to deal with minor flaws and take what you have. Blade, Ryuki and Den-O could get renewal treatments in 5-10 years from now. I think it's too soon since they are already solid figures.

It's not nitpicking if someone says something is perfectly fine when it's blatantly untrue.

Heck, you can even see how bad his head looks when he's stood next to Garren (their heads are supposed to look very similar, but Blade's is waaay skinnier).

Perhaps, but five years ago, complaining about Black not having wrinkles on his suit like in real life would have been nitpicking. Now look at him. All I'm saying is keep an open mind. However, you're right that they don't need renewals for a while.

Wasn't Blade stated be using the renewal body?

If they're gonna release some of the already great figuarts as the renewal, then they probably should release the accessories that came with the original ones. So far, there hasn't be a renewal that didn't came with the accessories that the original had. I can see them cutting accessories from Ryuki, and that would be a pretty big shame.

Blade's bodies are slightly different. For one thing, all of them have pretty bad neck articulation except for King form(which still confuses me) and maybe Leangle. Also, renewal Kabuto didn't come with the same kunai gun that the old Kabuto did. Old Kabuto's came in the axe and dagger modes while renewal Kabuto got the gun and dagger modes instead. It might seem minor to you but I really enjoy the kunai gun's axe mode.

For reference, renewal Kabuto doesn't come with the kunai gun in the left mode.

While we're still on this topic, I'd do anything for renewals of all the Kabuto Riders...

There are times that I don't understand why Bandai would make a figure that excels in one area, but be inferior in the other…

It would seem that Kabuto is the current exception of replacing an accessory with another (unless Kuuga did it too). lol.

But it is. It looks just like Blade. I have my DVDs and they look identical. Technically, none the renewals are perfect if you really want to compare them to the suits on the show. Kabuto's ankle bracelets are still not accurate and Kuuga's body armor doesn't go low enough on his body. There should be only a small amount of his stomach shown, but the Renewal shows a lot.
