S.H.Figuarts - News and Reviews

I find it odd that they both are doing the exact same costume when there are only like 60 others to choose from. Nevertheless, honestly, I think the Figma looks better. Plus, after how poor the quality control has been this year on Figuarts, I would also trust the Figma one to be better in that department too.

Usually Figmas have a prettier sculpt at the cost of articulation, so they are designed to be little more than posable statues.

Figuarts have a bit of a rougher sculpt that doesn´t try to hide the articulation as much and actually have better movility, not to mention that even if the sculpt doesn´t look as pretty it can be far more detailed than figma´s.

So basically, Figuarts gravitate more towards the action figure spectrum while Figmas are meant to be posed in a certain position and be left there, so i would personally get the Figuarts version since i like to play with my toys.

Note that if Figuarts wants to seriously compete with Figma there is one thing were they can easily out do them: loads and loads of accesories.

Wow. I don't believe it. I'm surprised that Bandai is actually trying to compete with GSC on a human figure.

Wait, wait, wait. How does this look better? Looking at her hair and her frills, there's so much less detail and intricacy in the sculpt. I think it's just the fact that it's colored.

It's the face. I like the Figuarts face much better. But, yeah it could be the uncolored-ness of the Figma. Like Dr. Kain said though, Tamashii's spotty QC lately has been kind a thorn in my side... so we'll see, though I'll still probably be buying this. I mean, come on Tamashii... is it SO HARD to at least outline the mouth?! EVERY Figma has that.

Plus I think the hat is too big on the Figma version.

Well, i only really own 2 Figmas, but just looking at the engineering it is obvious that the sculpting is the main priority for Figma while Figuarts is clearly more concerned with the base body and the mobility.

It will obviously vary according to the figure, but in most of the cases i have seen Figma clearly aims to look good first and having extensive articulation second.

Hell to the yes! Renewal Kuuga inbound:

April next year, by the look of it.

EDIT: I'm betting he'll be shown off in full at Tamashii Nations along with Drive. Honestly, I just hope this means we get a Trychaser (or even a Gouram) to go with him.

Damn it! why couldn't they release that damaged head with the regular release as a first order, why does it need its own figure! :( I'm definitely going to get the new Kuuga, the proportions are a LOT nicer than the one we got so many years ago, I can't even believe I made myself get it even though he didn't look like Kuuga much. Oh well... Drive does look nice, but depending on his accessories, I might hold off. I would prefer Type wild's design better. I am interested if the tire will spin though it doesn't look like it could.
