S.H.Figuarts - News and Reviews

Two packs would be end up being web exclusives and won't have a chance on getting a retail release.

Again: Being web exclusive doesn't mean that the figures sell poorly.

It's just for characters that Bandai thinks won't be popular enough to warrant getting a mass retail release. And just cause something's a two pack doesn't automatically make it a web exclusive either case in point: Garren and Red Rhombus.

Plus Zangetsu and Ryugen won't be exclusive…we know as much from the last Wonderfest event. Neither figuart had the Tamashi Web logo on their tags and Zangetsu didn't have a banner when his photos went up.

I'm not sure why Bandai used the metallic paint in the first place.

The exclusive figures (ie. 80% of the set) couldn't be released in a form identical to the pre-existing Tamashii Web exclusives. Something had to be different about the main figures and changing the decos to metallic versions makes sense in that respect. Something like that would have to be done to the Gokai girls in order for Bluefin to be able to release all six, and unless Bluefin wants to do mismatched Super Megaforce team members... probably going to see them in metallic too if they get a US release.

So figuarts now have a new box. I'm going to miss the window since people can look at the figure.

I wonder when Amazon and Shin Nigo is going to get re-release. I want to finish my Showa Rider line up, but those two cost so much now.

Yes, but although I picked up the boxed set, I already owned the basic Shinken Red (which I much prefer to the Super form) and Gold.

My display is mismatched if I display Gold or basic Shinken Red, and I strongly prefer the non-metallic versions -

I have those two as well and I don't think they are mismatched at all. The four rangers had a slight shine to their suits while red had very little. It works.

I'm not sure why Bandai used the metallic paint in the first place.

Because it was the only way Bluefin could release them in the US.

They asked us to pay upwards of $200 for the set; I don't think it's unreasonable to be a little finicky. Although I like having the Shinkengers at all, I don't think that, if I had the opportunity to go back and change my decision, I'd pick up the set again.

Did they force you go buy the set? I bought the set when it first came out knowing exactly what I was getting and I was more than impressed with the metallic paint. Sure, I'm not a fan of yellow, but green looks down right incredible and superior to the original.

You knew what you were going into when you chose to buy them.

(Also, I realize I sound like a grumpypants. I really love the Figuarts I own. The Kyoryu Red on my desk makes me smile every time I see it. I adore having the Gokaigers I have so far; having a few plus a Gokai Darin gives a lot of options for non-action, character-expressive poses. Squee!)

Which Darins do you need? I believe I have an extra red and green laying around (green is unopened) I'm thinking about selling off.

What makes you think these aren't just place holder boxes?

You might be right. Then again, they've been phasing out the window boxes in the web exclusives already. It might be only a matter of time that the windows are eliminated in retail releases as well.

I imagine Bandai is doing this because solid boxes are cheaper. They just have to pay for cardboard and don't have to pay more to add clear plastic or make an extra cut into the box for the plastic.
