Russell Crowe as Robin Hood

And that's why it's fiction. If we were to approach everything from a realistic perspective then most of our most beloved, happy-go-lucky fairy tales would be horrifying and ghastly.

Well, most of them were till Disney got its hands on them

I'm not sure what to make of the movie just yet but my boyfriend wants to see it, so we'll be going this weekend. He insists on talking through Every. Single. Movie so if I like the look of it then, I'll go again on my own just to hear the dialogue.

I'm rather sick of Robin Hood at the moment.

As much I'm looking forward to the Ripley Scott version, that I do agree on. The Robin Hood mythos has been done so much from the last century, that it needs to severely find rest from all of this. But alas, it's not happening anytime soon, there's already two more of them in the works... one to have a futuristic setting & the other to be a horror thriller of some kind.

Then as I have often suggested in this thread steer you toward a previous BBC series called Robin of Sherwood.

^ Listen to this man, people.

Saw (but didn't hear :redface2:) the Russell Crowe version earlier as it was released in Britain today, not quite as epic as Gladiator but it was pretty much OK

And that's why it's fiction. If we were to approach everything from a realistic perspective then most of our most beloved, happy-go-lucky fairy tales would be horrifying and ghastly. That's why the Kevin Costner Robin Hood was so great; it managed to be just realistic enough to add a feeling of historical significance but was never so dark that it didn't feel like it came from the pages of a storybook.

Another good thing about Prince of Thieves was the background music. It really got you into the action.

I can see both of those getting canned very easily. In fact, if they don't get the axe then there is no justice in the world.
