Rewatched Decade again for pure entertainment and here my thoughts...

I'm mid-way through this series (I'm like on episode 18, the one with Hibiki's world) and I've enjoyed it so far. I heard that many of the original actors don't make a comeback and these are "Alternate-reality" riders and are not THE riders. Oh well, I still enjoy it. But I've got one question: Why doesn't Yuusuke turn into Kamen Rider Kuuga more often? He usually just hangs there and doesn't always help out Tsukasa/Decade when he needs help.

I too wished that he helped out more. It felt like that he was nothing more but an emergency Rider. It's because Tsukasa, Daiki, & that world's Rider have everything under control.

cause later kuuga gets rising ultimate. so I have no problem with him hanging out off fights. rising ultimate, that's all there is to it, I guess they had to come up with a way to pay back kuuga for not giving him any action

This show was really promising with an innovative idea that could have successfully united all of the decade's KR shows.

But as we all come to know about TOEI, there is the idea and then there is the execution and TOEI seems to severely not able t to do the latter.

As a result it turned out to be possibly the worst Kamen Rider series in history (worse then Den-Oranger) and right up there with Go-Onger as probably the worst Toku production of the Decade.

Aside from the concepts themselves everything else was a failure in execution, from Plot development, to characterization, to misuse of characters (Yuuske!), villains, an unlikable twit of main character and worst of all....

A seriously faulty exposition of how the worlds connect and relate to each other.

The show was more of a "Fan service" and "milking merchdise machine" then anything else.

A blatant disregard for fans even though it was supposedly and allegedly "fan service."

I really love some of Decade but at the same time, they NEVER shook the idea I got mid way through that the show rather then being made as a legit tribute wasn't just a short and quickly made KR series on the cheap.

A lot of the earlier stories with the nine worlds were excellent, it is only when there appears to be a creative shift that things started to falter and by the end of series flop.

Pros:
-Story arcs from worlds of Kuuga, Agito, Faiz, RX/Black, Nega Riders and Hibiki are great. Could have easily been stand alone series or movies after it.

-The Rider War Dream opening

-Decade's design by itself grows on you.

-Natsumi-kan!!!


Cons:
-Weak side characters. Mostly looking at Yuusuke and Kaito.

-Dead end plot points/character arcs. The old man as Dr. Shishigami, Kaito being a Rider and knowing jack squat about Tsukasa, Tsukasa's back story in All Riders vs. Dai-Shocker, etc.

-Ugly and uninspired "Complete Form."

-Special effect failures. Kivarra on a string, weak Complete form finishers, pathetic redesign on certain monsters or original ones for the show and the big fights really turned to crap at the end of the series.


Overall, I like Decade a lot, at the same time, I think if it wasn't a fanservice heavy product and just a stand alone, it would be absolute trash.
