Re-Popping My Toku Cherry

I loved jan his wacky crazyness was the only thing that kept me going I found the first 10ish or so episodes terribly boring & with out him entertaining me through out it I would have dropped is fast!
This is sorta true for me, the other characters weren't too engaging at this point. Though episode 9 was the series' first truly amazing episode and kept me hooked.

For some bizarre reason, even though the hyperactive, idiotic reds turned me off on other series, I actually really liked Jan. It's weird.

But Ran is where it's at for me. <3<3<3 I'm a bit of a fanboy, I think. XD

To date, Gekiranger is the only sentai that ever interested me enough to get me to watch it all the way through. Not only that but I loved it so much that I still go back and rewatch random episodes from time-to-time.

Dude, you should totally check out Magiranger. :O It's a little silly at times, but damn if it isn't an awesome series once the heavier plot moves in.

Magiranger was one of those ones that I gave a couple episodes to try it and I just couldn't take it. I dunno, it really wasn't doing it for me. :/

Darn. D: It was the first Sentai I saw in like...ten years or something, and it hooked me. There are moments that made me roll my eyes or episodes that were a little hard to get through, but I loved most of it. Especially once the you-knew-who-he-was-but-let's-pretend-it-was-well-hidden reveal comes around midseries. It was really impressive to see Kai finally start to grow as a character there and that scene he has with Wolzard in episode...32, I think, was really touching.

I tend to think Abaranger, Magiranger, and Gekiranger are the best Sentai since Timeranger, so any of those are really good...though you may not like Aba if you weren't the biggest fan of Magi.

Also, the Magiranger theme makes my ears bleed. Have you seen Gamera Vs. Gyaos, where Gyaos is spurting fountains of lavender-colored blood out his ears?

Yeah, like that.

You could always check out the original Kamen Rider series someone just uploaded the entire thing a while ago. It's good if you want something that's not totally dark...emo...whatever the word is, and the first 12 episodes have a really great gritty style going on.

How far are you into Gekiranger? I don't actually hear too many things about it, which I guess makes it kinda overrated since there are areas where it was kinda flawed, but it was a great ride for the most part, especially almost any major story after the Kageki arc.
Watch the orinial Kamen Rider, theres also a episode with the creator as the director and writer ect and he made that episode the way rider was suppossed to be for one episode.

Yeah, like that.
I thought the opening was decent, though I did up skipping past it in the later half of the series. The only song that's ever been able to make me spew lavender-color blood out of my ears was that horrible ending.

Obviously the trauma from hearing the ending theme was so bad that I only have vague memories of disliking it. My subconcious must be supressing just how awful it was.

Really though, I have a hard time listening to MOST sentai themes. They're just typically not my thing. There are some notable exceptions, however. Gekiranger was super hot-blooded and awesome and Dairanger's - though I have yet to see the series - is so ridiculously great that I have it on my iPod and listen to it all the damned time. Mmmm, DaiRanger music. I am hoping that Shinkenger has a similarly awesome theme song.
