the USA wants to rule the world

Well duh, the US is Rome after all. Everyone around us hates us, but the biggest difference is we have water inbetween all of our enemies. However, we all know what happened to Rome after a while.

RE:USA

See Switchblade's post right up there. This is to match copyright status in other countries. Not exactly something they pulled out of nowhere. I don't see how "want to rule the world" is even relevant here.

Only the WESTERN half fell. The Eastern one became the only Roman Empire and existed for another millenium, making the Roman Empire the longest surviving Western institution. If you count the Russian Empire by virtue on being married into the family of the last emperors in the 1400's and taking the mantle ,then it has lasted until the Russian Revolution. Either way, that makes the Roman Empire as long lasting as the Chinese Empire.

Without the Eastern half ,we'd be talking in Arabic and or be a huge backwater.

"Two Romes have fallen and a Third has risen" , one of my fave quotes.

Not sure why dead people should get copyrights for their work unless it's been copyrighted in the first place. Doesn't this hinder many things?
