PSP Go Disscussion

Anyone got one yet?

I'm currently considering picking one up, although I have a classic PSP(Might sell it though)

Does anyone know if you can load ISOs onto it yet like you could with the old one?

haha no ones going to know that until they get their hands on it and actually fool around with it XD

not planning on getting one though.. i still have my classic... why spend money on something that is only lighter? the screen isn't nicer or anything.. so i'm not in the slightest inclined to getting one XD

in fact the only reason i got a ds lite ... was cuz the screen was soooo much nicer than the original :3...didn't bother with the psp slim XD

I had the old one and once the novelty of emulators wore off and I got sick of it being so huge it just gathered dust for 3 years... Go actually has me interested, there are one or two good looking games now, and I like that the Go actually fits in your pocket.

Just entered a prize draw until I decide if I really want one :/

I really really want one because I love portable systems, but it's so hard to justify.

a) I have a bunch of PSP games I love already, but I can't play them on the new system. They completely dropped the ball on getting those transferable too which is a real bummer...even if I were to sell all my stuff and invest in it, about half of my games aren't even on there.

b) The price. It's expensive as it is for a handheld, and also for a system. Then when you realize that it's only $50 less than the big bad expensive ps3, it's intimidating.

c) I even hear it takes a different memory card than the original PSP so even if you were to re-buy your games, you'd be having to start over.

If you have a classic, there's not reason outside of portability.

It's more expensive, with a smaller screen.

New storage medium, so your Duo cards won't work.

New proprietary cables, so no using any random USB cable.

It's primarily wireless, and yet still uses the same 802.11b that the original PSP did.

Lack of choice. Got an old PSP? If the UMD version costs less than the digital one, you just buy it. If the digital download is less? Buy it there since the download still work on the old PSPs. Got the Go? You're stuck with digital downloads only. No used games from Amazon, Gamestop, or Ebay for you.

It costs $250. $50 less than a PS3. For less hardware than the original PSP.

There is literally no reason to buy a PSP Go if you have the old one. If you don't, hell, track down a used one for $100.

They still sell the 3000 model alongside the Go.

Just for the record, the Go also has Bluetooth. The big adavantage of this is using the SIXAXIS/DualShock 3 controller with it. Another one is tethering with a cell with a bluetooth modem. So pretty much, wherever there is good service, your Go uses your phone as an internet modem(asumming you have a cellphone that can work as a bluetooth modem).

Not quite as smooth as it sounds. From Ars Technica's review:

It gets even sillier, however. You can use the Bluetooth capabilities of the system to link a Dual Shock 3 to the system, in order to play with an actual controller. That's a pretty cool feature, right? The only problem is, without USB you need to connect the controller, and the PSP Go, to a PS3. So to sync the controller to the system you need another system, a USB cable, the proprietary PSP Go cable, and the controller. It's not exactly the most elegant solution, and in this situation the PS3 works as a $300 adapter.

How do you browse the Internet on this? same way as the PS3?

I do quite like the look of the PSP Go...so that's why I'm considering right now...

Guess I'll wait and see if any deals come up first, or if there's an easier way to homebrew it...also gotta see how much I could sell my old PSP for.

Same way you browse it on the old PSP or the PS3. Built in Internet Browser after connecting on WiFi or have a data-plan on your cell phone and connect the Go to your cell phone using BlueTooth.
