Problems with soft subbed

Okay so i wanted to watch a Japanese drama with soft subs, but when i play the video the subs wont appear.

So i checked the file, then i used VLC maybe that will work.

But still no subs, so figured maybe my vobsub program doesnt work so i re-instal it.

But guese what it still doesnt work???

Does anyone had this problem before.

The only n00b suggestion I can offer is that the subtitle file has to be named the same as the video file (and in the same folder) and that it's easiest to work with .srt's if possible. That's all I really know about soft-subs, sorry.

Is the raw an avi file?

I have trouble getting subs to show up on any other type. Just throwing that out there.

Use the media player classic that came with the cccp codec pack.
You can go into it and set up the options to make the subtitles appear.

Well it depends. Did it come with a subtitle file? If not, it's probably embedded into the video file itself (like an ogm file or something). In that case, boot it up on VLC, go under Video > Subtitle Tracks > Track 1 or something like that. It should load up the subtitles.

1. Make sure the SRT/ASS file is named the same as the original video file
2. Make sure vob sub is on
3. Make sure vob sub is reading the subtitles
4. If you're having troubles, switch to a new player. If the new player doesn't read the subs then use VLC and manually load the subs.
5. If all else fails the subs are probably no good and redownload them.
