Ah man. Wild Force was one of the seasons where I was really getting back into PR. I slowly started getting into it with Lightspeed Rescue. I saw a few episodes and was mostly like "Daaaym!" at the action. Then TimeForce came along and I loved the hell out of that season. Then came WildForce and my god I was up every saturday morning to see it. I loved every moment of it.
The main thing I loved about Wild Force was that it was consistent. We had alot of fun episodes with small plot stories but in the middle of those we had re-occuring plot points and details that spiced things up. Cole always searched for his parents and the truth. Max always hated being called a kid. Just the little details that really had no impact on the story but made everything seem real. Seem alive, I guess.
But the story. My fucking god. For one thing I loved the villains. Jindrax was awesome. (he reminded me of Blade from Puppet Master.) But the stories of Wild Force were awesome. Zen-Aku story arc was awesome. I loved how the BLOOD of Zen Aku made them realize he was human. That was probably the most mature thing I ever saw. Blood. On PR. That surprised the HELL out of me.
Soul Searching, where we find out more about coles Parents and their fate. That Master Org probably had something to do with it. And that he may have a bit of connection to Cole as well. Then in Masters Last Stand. Good freaking lord!! "They begged for mercy. And I gave it to them!" WOW.. Darkest story EVER for a red ranger. His parents were brutally murdered by their best friend. And the REAL kicker?? YOU SYMPATHIZED WITH HIM!! He had a tradgic reason why he turned to HATRED! A Human and REAL reason that wasnt "oh I wanted the power! BWAHAHAHAHA!". No, he felt his credit was being taken away. That Dr. Evans was taking all the spot light and that Adler's work was going completely unnoticed. Adler became extremely heart broken when he found out Evans had stolen his only chance at love. Adler's heart and dignity and pride was BROKEN in the most tradgic sense. He wanted to relieve that pain and felt the seeds of Master Org could help him.
I mean god dammit. Who could hate this show after that episode. Cole's desperate battle alone against Master Org was a powerful one. He was getting trashed and bashed around. Then the whole thing about Toxica and Jindrax realizing Master Org was human and refused to serve him. Instead they revived possibly one of the most dangerous Orgs ever. Mandilock. A General Org who had a bottomless appetite and a split personality. He was very dangerous even to his own servants!
Toxica and Jindrax did their best but both of them were pushed away and abused by Mandilock like children being abused by a father. No matter what they did they couldnt make him happy. Their passion to make him happy was so strong that even Toxica cried over it. The other thing I loved is the villains had real EMOTION. Jindrax CARED for Toxica. Toxica cared for Jindrax. Master Org had a human and sympathetic reason for doing what he did.
Jindrax went to join with his brother to take down the rangers. When his Brother grew Jindrax took the beans to grow and help his brother. Toxica tried to stop Jindrax knowing he might be destroyed by doing so. Vice Versa, Jindrax would always be there to cheer up Toxica when she was down.
Then the killer. Toxica was betrayed by her own master and fellow Duke Org, OniKage. She cut off her own horn to capture Princess Shayla and she DIED for it. Not in a monster way. Not by the rangers.. She crawled on the ground and grasped at Mandilock why gasping for her last breath. She collapses and Jindrax cried out her name seeing if she's all right. Even Princess Shayla thinks this is horribly wrong.
And what happens? Shes still alive and gets USED as a shield! Mandilock uses her as a freaking shield and she DIES in the most horrible way for a villain to die. She was the most loyal duke org and faithful to the org clan for thousands of years. And her life is repayed by being used as a pitiful shield for Mandilock. Jindrax cries out Toxica's name as she explodes into dust. Her horn all he has left of her.
Then Jindrax becomes a target. This makes Jindrax question who he can trust. He now has no trust in his fellow orgs. No faith in what he's doing. And he's lost his faith in Orgs completely... that's the most powerful moment ever, when he gives his speech to Master Org. "I've had it with being an ORG!!"
Man.. I cant begin to express my love for Wild Force. I loved the theme song. Everytime I heard it I blared the volume on the TV and sang along. "WILD FORCE POWER RANGEEEERS! We'll defend what's right foreva!" I loved the remix song too on the CD! And the Instrumental theme kicked ass! Amazing Guitar instrumental of the theme as they did their roll call. "BLAZING LION!" "SURGING SHARK!" "SOARING EAGLE" "NOBLE TIGER" "IRON BISON!" "POWER RANGERS WILD FORCE!"
*shivers* Man.. And I know noone liked "Never Give Up". But I never had a problem with it. Honestly, it never bugged me. I thought it was kewl that they had that kind of friendship driving them to go on.
We also had alot of focus eps for each ranger. Learning their past, what drives them. It made them more real to see their story and their life. And Kite. How come noone likes kid actors? I thought Kite acted REALLY well for a kid! He was a damn good actor and I loved "Monitoring Earth". I got tingles in the back of my neck when he floated up into the sky and turned into Animus Megazord.. god damn.
And the background music of WF was awesome too. Aaah well. Im done rambling. Wild Force = Bad Ass Season. I dont know anyone hated it honestly. It was very dark and mature for a feel good season.
