Kain

Lurker
Geist Inc, probably the only paranormal investigation agency in the town Ridgecrest California, and likely the state or at least the only serious one that had actual credibility, was alive with the usual blaring rock music that the owner, Kain Virsayan, preferred. As usual he found himself not doing any actual work, likely because there was none to be done, instead choosing to occupy himself with the pinball machine as KISS's Detroit Rock City played in the background. It wasnt exactly an easy business to be in these days, when it came to the supernatural and spiritual people seemed to prefer burying their heads in the sand known as science than admit that there are things simply beyond comprehension and beyond the understanding of normal people. Oh yes he was well aware of the existence of spirits and ghosts, and likely one of the few people within hundreds of miles that was qualified to exorcise them. Plus it wouldnt be suprising if he was the only one who possesed the tools to do so with one hundred percent efficiency. Though unsuprisingly to the average person he seemed like a lazy bum trying to make a quick buck, after all he seemed to be more than unproffesional due to the junk that seemed to be all over the establishment. Not like he felt he needed to make an ever to to hide all of the miscellaneous junk that he brought back, most requests tended to be phoned in and the only people that tended to come in either knew him or worked for him anyway. Besides more than anything else the business was mostly a front anyway for his real occupation. Sure he was a lazy perverted guy who would prefer to go out partying, but he also just happened to be a member of an age old secret society that was dedicated to ensuring that spirits would safely pass on, rather than linger and clump together into horrific beings known as Soulbeasts, which would seek out other souls to integrate into themselves and become stronger, and if left alone long enough gain physical existence which would cause even more damage on both planes of existence. He just so happened to be in charge of a team, made up of the latest generation of the six main families of the Specterus organization whose duty was the seek out and eliminate the Soulbeasts, known as the Soul Hunters. The business proved to be helpful to their purpose as hauntings which had actual effects on the physical plane tended to be linked, or at least be the precursor to the emergence of a Soulbeast, and lets face it if such a thing can be prevented before even having to suit up it was a big victory as far as he was concerned. Besides its not like transforming anytime before sundown was simple either.

Luckily he was able to pay his employees fairly well, the Virsayan family's old fortune allowed him to keep those that worked under him well paid inspite of their usual lack of business, provided they didnt mess with his Ghostbusters memorabilia. Though he did have a tendency to spend alot of time thinking up pranks to pull on his assistant Hitomi, whose reactions to pranks were utterly hilarious as far as he was concerned, besides he felt he needed to get her back for all of the times she interfered with him getting a date with the few female customers that walked in. After a while the door to his office opened as it did every so often when he found himself bored. "Any calls yet? We should actually be getting one today after all." he said looking a little less bored than usual. For once he was fairly sure they were going to get some business, mostly because he had known in advance that it was on it's way.

((Do whatever. Keep in mind that the team has already been formed and everyone is at least aquainted with each other on some level. ))

Much like the rest of Geist Inc, Shinobu sat around with nothing to do, since business was slow at any given day. While she would rather be managing documentation for a client, she did not have any clients to manage for Kain; instead, she was on the computer, watching random videos on YouTube to pass the time until it was time to leave for home. My friends in high school would probably envy me for being paid to sit around and do nothing. They just don't realize how dull and stupid really is... Shinobu sighed, looking up another video to watch. It was at that moment the phone rang. Picking up the phone, Shinobu promptly answered with the standard greeting.

"Geist Incorporated, This is Shinobu speaking. How may I help you today?"

"Hello? Is this the Radio Station?"

"I'm sorry sir, but you have -- "

"Yes, yes. I like to make request, yes?"

"But sir, I -- "

"I request Van Halen. Yes?"

Slightly annoyed by the caller, who kept interrupting her before she could explain that they were not a radio station, she promptly hung up and turned back to the computer, proceeding to watch her video once more. I wonder if these people are actually playing a prank, or are just seriously stupid... she sighed once more. While she knew that what she did was unprofessional, Shinobu was rather put off by the fact that she went to the office every day to do what she could do at home: Jack squat.

The Artimage household was very quiet that morning aside from the aquarium tank inside the buxom raven-hair woman, Alice Armitage. The young woman would have been at Geist Inc, if she had not been outside late last night from doing a bit of work and pleasure. What had been months of planning to celebrate her birthday shifted when the owner of the restaurant called in asking for the expertise of Geist Inc in handling what he believed to a disgruntle spirit from the business card she had left him with. Work had always come first before pleasure with Alice and agreed to do what she could in hopes that the remaining of the evening went unspoiled. However, the spirit medium had not arrived to one disgruntle lost spirit rather few drunken spirits that cling onto the establishment. Though the work had not taken much strain like most, Alice had her hands full dealing with them that by the time she was finished had been too tired to enjoy her day off.

Unfortunately Alice would not have the chance to catch up on sleep lost as her pre-set alarm clock went off. Shifting through the bed sheets sat upright brushing the back of her head with a dream-like expression cast over staring at the digital clock next to the bed stand. Business must be slow today for she had not received a phone call from the others. Would it be possible to get in a few more hours of sleep before heading in to report last night? Most unlikely. Pulling the comforter and sheets aside made her way to the bathroom in order to get ready for the day. “I’d best call them to let them know that I am on the way.†speaking to herself turning on the shower.

It would take a few minutes for the water to warm up, but at least this way she would not feel guilty of arriving few minutes late without some notice. While the water ran in the shower Alice walked over where the phone rested on the side bed stand.

The sound of a motorcycle engine roared through the streets the bike stopped in front of a bar the rider would remove his helmet and take out a tiny sheet of paper "Horseshoe Tavern...three PM...this must be the place" He says he kills the engine, and places his bike on park. Inside, load music followed by a cloud of cigaret smoke would greet him the bar went deathly silent as all eyes turned to glare at the young man. The young man walked towards the bar, and sat down beside another load, obnoxious and obviously drunk man 'Whisky...on the rocks please" The man said the bartender placed a whisky bottle "Leave the glass" He instructs

The man then turns to the man beside him "You must be Richard...Richard Wess correct?" He says "Oh? Who wants to know?" The drunk man says "My employer does." He says

Chairs screeched along the metal floor, a gun raised to his head. "I've been expecting you...Bounty Hunter! You ain't gettin out of here alive!" The man says. Dante sighs deeply "Why must you people always do things the hard way..." He says he delivers a swift roundhouse to the drunk man's hand knocking the gun out of his hand, his goons would open fire but Dante draws his staff and swats the bullets away as though they were flies he leaps behind the bar, and sees the cowering bartender "Sorry bout that...put it on my tab!" Dante says

When the firing stops, Dante would reach for his pockets pulling out several small black balls and throws them over the counter the balls explode, releasing a cloud of smoke that covered the room. Coughing and wheezing could be heard, followed by grunts and groans. When the smoke clears, Dante stood in the middle of the room Richard, the man from earlier was slung over his shoulder tied and gaged, the room littered with broken wood fragments and bodies.

Dante walks towards the bar and places a dollar bill for the whisky "My contractors will take care of the damages...sorry about the mess" Dante says and walks out of the bar.

Hitomi, much like Shinobu, had little to do at the moment and sighed at their being yet another false call. Our work is important here...but...it seems that most people that call in don't realize that... Rather than watching videos on a computer, though, Hitomi was instead reading a suspense manga. It was kind of ironic that she was reading things like this, given how easily startled she could get, but she seemed to enjoy these types of manga more than others.

With that said, it was doubly ironic that she was in a business that dealt with paranormal activities, though, to be honest, spiritual things didn't scare her as much as things that could possibly be done by humans in these suspense manga she read, as she was more of a realist in her fears. The sight of blood disturbed her more than any ghost for whatever reason, and Hitomi nervously continued to read the manga, her trembling fingers turning each page.

Haa...why do I torture myself like this? ...I suppose I just like mystery...still...doing some work today wouldn't hurt...

Matt sat at his desk in Geist Inc. With nothing to do he started to play darts from his station. Bull'seye. Matt soon grew tired of not missing and tried to add something new. He tried to increase the distance or reduce his visibility but still couldn't miss. He pulled up some papers from his desk and started to look over them. He normally was a hardworking person but he had nothing to do.

Matt was couldn't stand doing nothing. He enjoyed doing work but wasn't good at relaxing. He was always taught that relaxing was just a way of letting your guard down. There must be something to do in this town. Why can't something big happen now. Matt couldn't stand how everytime the phone rang his excitement left as it was just another fake call.

Suddenly the beell above the door rang, as the rarely heard sound of a person actually entering the rarely visited Geist Inc. A man around twenty years of age entered the establishment, bespectacled and well dressed, his appearance just screamed "MONEY!!!" like some sort of weird gold colored USB Memory stick. It was the type of person who seemed like they wouldnt step foot in such a place. Yet he didnt seem to be lost either.

"According to the sign outside this is Geist Inc, correct?" he asked approaching Hitomi as he looked around. "Who am I kidding this must be it, no one else would run a business like this with a layout such as this." he said nothing the various posters, radios and other random pieces of junk.

"I was wondering when you were gonna pop up. I just assumed you got lost out here like that one time in Mexico." Kain said as he emerged from his office while laughing.

"If you remember correctly , it was you that got the three of us lost out there, I happened to get you, Jake, myself and the monkey out of there before we got arrested again." the man, apparently known as Kristoph said while joining in on Kain's joking.

"This is that old buddy of mine that I told you guys about earlier, he has a job for us so be all excited and stuff." he told them introducing his old friend to the rest of his group.

Hitomi was brought out of her manga and looked up at Kristoph and was about to answer his question when she was cut off. As him and Kain then started to catch up with each other, Hitomi felt a bit creeped out for some reason. Brr...kind of an odd guy...but, I shouldn't feel like this...it's disrespectful to Kain-san's friend, after all...besides, he's got work for us...and I can stop scaring myself, ah heh... Hitomi reasoned, disregarding her first impression and a little eager to get to work on a job...

Alice waited until the fourth or fifth ring before hanging the phone back on the receiver rather than rolling over to the answer machine. The only reasonable explanation either her fellow teammates had received work from a client or the phone was tied up. The latter more likely considering how things have been as of late. At times she must confess to herself that this could be view both good and bad for them. Aside from the minor cases there was nothing of an escalating level of lingering spirits merging together as Soulbeasts. On the downside that business had been slow as of late needed to branch out and take whatever came their way…if even lucky.

After a long and refreshing shower Alice felt renewed for what the day had yet to bring. Dressed in a simple white blouse and denim jeans the young woman grabbed from the kitchen a quick bite to eat on her way to Geist Inc. As she drove down the streets chuckled visualizing how the others were favoring at the moment. No doubt Shinobu was watching some random video on YouTube to pass the time again. Matt likely bored sitting at his station playing darts wanting something if anything to do. Alice was certain to find Hitomi reading the latest manga or rereading one from her archives. The laughter soon died down coming to the next one, Dante. A very stubborn man of a few words tends to spend his time a bit more…eccentric in terms of bounty hunting. Hopefully even he would know that he could count on them if he got himself in any tight of a situation not to hesitate calling. Last but least Kain was quite the character as well when it came to the female clients that entered and his pranks to follow whoever interfered. Poor Hitomi, though Alice finds this on a daily basis the raven-hair woman had been developing a prank of her own to get back at Kain. The only problem with that none seem quite worthy of his caliber.

Shifting her focus from the computer screen, Shinobu smiled softly at Kristoph and waved. "It is a pleasure to meet you, sir," she greeted respectfully, aware of the fact that Kain and Kristoph went way back. Observing the two catch up on past events, Shinobu went back to her video and continued watching. I wonder what the boss's friend does for a living. He seems rather affluent, after all.... she thought, deciding to search for another video to watch.
