I gave this one five stars, not just because they finally addressed the animal eyes on the zords, but they actually referenced that they looked like anime eyes. Considering that the story had comic book up front, this only feels right.
I had this passing thought that if I were making a robot that I would design it's eyes to mimick the human or an animal's eye as best as possible, so it makes perfect sense that this is how the zord's eyes were designed. However, I'm sure someone in that think tank when designing them had to have been sparked by some creativity in their animal designs. But what doesn't make sense is that they kept in the megazord blowing the smoke away from the gun barrel. It's a minor quibble, but today does kind of trounce the slight notion that they were alive in some way.
Also this episode flowed so well that when it ended I was surprised it was over. I could have easily watched another part to this story, but considering how Ranger Yellow handled a two-parter, I guess this is good that it was contained to one ep.
Oh, and the generals showed up in battle and showed that they are at least tough to fight.
Only complaint is that the zord fight was too short again, but I guess that is a crux of the show that can't be fixed.
