Power Rangers Mystic Force - "The Gatekeeper" Part I Talk Up!

Surprisingly, this ep wasn't so bad. Clare pulls off the Lunagel/Gatekeeper thing pretty well - I liked her eyes. Hey, they focused on them...::shrugs:: Also, am glad they decided to play Claire (sp?) up more as key figure - if she'd stayed the incompetent apprentice...meh.

I don't know, maybe it's his voice, but I find Koragg annoying. Necrolai on the other hand, I'm liking better than I ever (if a smidgen) liked Vancuria.

Udonna still sounds and acts like a Galadriel reject (sorry if that's harsh).

I actually liked the action that I saw in this ep. The wirework didn't get ridiculous, and the sequences were pretty creative. I actually had to look twice to figure out what footage came from Magi or other.

The only thing I don't like about Necrolai is that damn shriek she does.

I love Koragg's voice. It has a slight air of nobility to it, which is nice considering the character arc.

Udonna is hard for me to judge, because really, getting kidnapped is really the first real thing she's done since getting beat up and having her Snow Staff stolen in Broken Spell.

I'm really enjoying Mystic Force. I'm glad that they finally seemed to have gotten a good grasp on how to handle the episodes this year. There are little things in the episode that really make it for me. Like the scene where Toby is outside the store and the Oracle gets carried off by Necrolai and then the next scene where he's like "People don't just get carried off by giant bats. Then he's taken two seconds later. He's definitely been the most underrated character so far. I always find his scenes funny and they seem to be actually doing something with his character.

I liked the Oracle character. He seemed to add some life to the Underworld scenes. Plus I was glad to see Leelee there with the others. I liked how she was the one that suggested that Toby was the Gatekeeper. Morticon seems more furious than ever thus setting up for his demise.

This episode was mostly about Clare and I was glad that they gave her a focus episode of her own. I really have a soft spot for Clare. She's been screwing up constantly, but Udonna tries to help her see her potential. We realize why with this episode and that Niella is in fact her sister. Clare continues the role as the Gatekeeper and despite her fallbacks, we got to see her really kick butt. The Moon Warrior stuff reminded me of Sailor Moon which was kind of cool as a PGSM fan.

For some reason, I really liked the scene where Koragg captures Udonna while searching for the Gatekeeper and says "Nice try apprentice." when she reveals herself. Overall, some great writing this year and a lot of continuity. They even consistently mention the Fire Heart again. It's funny the Rangers didn't even do much this week, but it was great to see some of the supporting cast shine.

I noticed that ABC Kids and ABC Fam are caught up with each other lol. They both played this episode today. Kinda crazy.
