Hey at least netflix has good shows like daredevil and House of cards for example heck this site is the pioneer of internet television.

But WHY do people want that?

Simple. Because online streaming is cheaper than cable TV.

To prove once and for all that television is a dying medium, despite plenty of evidence to support otherwise?

Of all the major pay-TV providers, Time Warner Cable (NYSE:TWC) has experienced the most cord cutting of all. Over the last three years, the cable company has lost 1.4 million video subscribers.

So people can feel like they are part of some exclusive, privileged group called "online only"?

They don't like paying for expensive monthly cable bills.

There are kids who don't even know that Power Rangers is on Netflix, and plenty of families who don't even have it.

There are also families who don't have Nickelodeon.

I'd have an easier time believing that Saban would want to simulcast new Power Rangers episodes on Television and Online at the same time.

That seems feasible.

Fortunately, there are services like Sling and PlayStation Vue that allow you watch cable TV channels without cable or satellite.

I'unno about the US, but over here, it's been my observation that people tend to still primarily watch their TV by way of satellite or cable reception. :V Dunno, don't think this is all that appealing a prospect for a show aimed primarily at younger viewers, anyhow.

Anyway, the vast majority of complaints are directed towards Nickelodeon and how they handle the show, and not about the fact that it's a cable-only show. A lot of other people are also wishing that it could be on Cartoon Network.

Give it a few years. Disney, Fox and all the other big studios are desperate to get their own competing streaming services set up as the exclusive providers of their content. So instead of just buying into netflix, the only way to stream all the shows and films that you want to see will be to sign up to multiple different streaming services, and it'll end up being more expensive.

Actually, numbers do lie. You can't always go by hard numbers. Statistics based on hard numbers can be skewed and don't always give a complete picture. There is always room for error.

Hardly. Factor that many if not the majority of internet service providers are also cable providers as well. You have to pay for the internet service, then the online services you want for it work. Unless you are using public Wi-Fi which in that case, you're just compromising your security for cheaper television unless you use proper protection, it's always going to be more expensive.

You have to get multiple services in order to get equivalent content of a cable bundle, with several thousands of shows and movies that overlap on each service. By that point, you might as well buy the optimal cable bundle and be done with it. And will be costlier in the long run than a cable or cable bundle bill.

You still need internet service. And internet service, the really good stuff, is often in the hands of cable companies.

Not to mention, there are things called DVRs where recordings can be saved. Without the internet, you have zero access to any content. The way many distributors talk about online shows being the norm is a farce for three reasons:

1. Internet service is commonly owned by cable companies. Not only that, but phone service. Can you get all three separate and pick or choose?
2. Why pay more for marginally more original content?
3. Physical media is still higher quality and accessible, not to mention it protects the end consumer. Regardless of whether a service loses the show or has it, you already have the content to watch. "But what about paying more per month?" You say? You're only paying for the key to that content to maintain the servers. Acting like physical ownership is somehow inferior is laughable. There are still TV shows and movies not available in certain markets for several reasons that can only be gotten through importing physical copies.
4. DVRs are awesome. They are the VHS that never loses quality. I mean there's no easy way of taking that content off the device , but the main point is that ultimately, you can record and delete at will to fill the box.
