Well the Flight + Hotel can start at around 1300-1500 depending if you find a good deal or not (since I don't drive location is important) next you gotta account for the trip to Montreal to take the plane (probably an intercity bus with a night in a hotel), the food, the convention ticket, the stuff I might want to buy...
And more importantly, I gotta have a cushion saved to compensate for the days of work I'll be missing. 4000 is the point I'd feel more comfortable with.

well like was discussed before, the best way to save money is to group up with a buddy on a hotel room. If HJU members are getting together for this, shouldnt be too hard to bunk with someone.
Hell, I say just purchasethe round trip ticket and when you get there be like "hey I have no where to sleep, can I chill in your room?" no one would turn you down... except for the women because they are already wise to your midnight shenanigans.
