Persona 2 getting PSP remake

Why? The PSP ports of the games were all based on the P4 engine. Maybe if they toned down the "dating sim-esque" gameplay and fixed up the atrocious writing and scenery design though... I mean for a heavily character and story driven game the writing was almost Tommy Wiseau level bad.

Nice to see the one of the few Megaten games I actually enjoyed get a port, although I'd prefer it if it was both Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment.

Have you even played Persona 4? Your comment of the dating sim thing kinda shows me that you probably haven't. If you had, you would know how utterly stupid that comment is. Not to mention being very wrong and inaccurate. And saying the writing is bad? I wonder even more if you have really played it. But hey if you have and you think the writing is bad, I would really love to know what RPGS you think have good writing.

HOW?

I could get someone just not liking the style change from the older games but to actively say the writing is bad is just... frankly it's a bit infuriating and feels like willful ignorance.

Actually, I just didn't like the Social Link parts. Too time consuming. Here are my pros and cons about it:

Pros) It helps build your Personae
Cons) It's time consuming, one wrong choice fucks you over, and if it is not activated because of your current stats, then it'll take forever to finish.

I only saw....1 pro in the Social Link. Another pro, though, but not really important, it introduces some girls to the fandom...and to the "fandom" (if you catch my drift).

I had no real problem with social links and they were pretty damn easy in P4 and P3P

It was mostly just P3/FES that had that problem

It's a key part of the game. There is no con about it being time consuming. It's also part of the entire concept of the game. And what do you mean not activated because of your current stats? Your stats have nothing to do with Social Links.

Links are activated by time of day, day of the week, the month, and if you have gotten other social links to a certain point. If you have a persona of the matching link with you, then you get a bonus towards leveling that link. It also doesn't take "forever". I think you either didn't pay attention to the tutorials, or the explanations of Slinks. If you don't like that system that's one thing, but the way you are talking you make it sound as though Slinks are some random game thing that takes "forever" to get working. That isn't the case.

It introduces girls to the fandom? WTF are you talking about?

I'm on my second playthrough of it right now, don't get all fired up and mad because of my opinion you fanboy. Compared to the previous Persona's, P4 reminds me more of a dating sim type game. I don't know the exact term for those games based around dialogue trees and relationships with other characters, so I'm just gonna go with dating sim-esque. At least half of P4 is spent eating lunch with Yosuke or helping Yumi with her daddy issues, and its not just a side quest like romance was in ME2 for example, it's a key aspect of the entire game and you can't really play the game and do well if you don't study and pass your midterms and then go out shopping for groceries with Yukiko.

The writing, especially the dialogue is atrocious. The characters are extremely thick and are pretty much clueless to the most bluntly obvious things. Yosuke seems to be the only one that knows anything but even then he's not too sure of the most obvious statements and has to ask the PC if "X shadowy figure in the TV that looks almost exactly like X character is in fact X character). Most of the dialogue is extremely vapid and insipid, it makes me wonder who thought some of those lines were necessary at all. And I swear Tommy Wiseau must have been in charge of the setting design, there is all kinds of wrong with it. From your entire party sticking out from the class like soar thumbs to Nanako making breakfast when there was already breakfast on the table.

Not to mention how extremely repetitive the plot is. Stuck in TV? Rescue them. Stuck in TV? Rescue them. Stuck in TV? Rescue them. Repeat

Oh and the big reveal on the girl that set the entire plot into mention was that she is just some pointless character that contributed almost nothing to the plot after her initial appearance? Christ it'd be like The Dark Knight except at the very end the Joker comes out and says it was the Bank Manager planning all of it.

The only thing interesting about the writing is the premise, oh wait its just a carbon copy of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable's premise. Then again the whole Persona franchise is loaded with JoJo references.

RPG's that I think have good writing? Off the top of my head: Final Fantasy IV, Fire Emblem IV, Legend of Dragoon, Wild Arms 3, Final Fantasy Tactics, Grandia II, Final Fantasy XII, Mass Effect, Baldur's Gate, Nier Gestalt, Tales of the Abyss, Shining Force, and Golden Sun (well I wouldn't say the last three were as good as the others but they were above average). And Majora's Mask if you count that, and Fallout New Vegas, although I never actually played that one myself just watched a friend play through it.

There are only two reasons someone would say something so utterly and flabbergastingly (yes, I know that's not a real word, it's the only way I can convey my feelings on this) incorrect.

1) Troll detected!

2) You've never actually played P4 and are basing your opinions on that parody comic.

Please read the above post.

Also the hiimdaisy MGS comics are the only funny ones, the P4 ones are only funny when watched as that fandub by Antfish.

Sure, Sure, Nope, Nope, IDK, Nope, Nope.

Also, who plays video games for story? It's a game, not a book.

Nice way to start a reply. But then I have seen you talk about other topics around here, so I would think you wouldn't be tossing around "fanboy" at other people. But hey if it makes you feel like a bigger dude, then go for it. Anyway... Since you say you have played P4 and you still lable it as such, then it is clear you never played P3/FES. They are also not dating games. Half the game eating lunch with Yosuke eh? That's just pure bullshit right there. Who the hell is Yumi? No characters in the game have daddy issues. Starting a romance in P4 isn't a key aspect of the game. You can just be friends with any of the girls in the game. You CHOSE to date one of them if you CHOSE. See that word there? CHOSE. All the links, save a few, are side quests. They really help fill out the game in most cases. And you are wrong about the midterms thing. You can do just fine even if you fail them. All doing better does is SLIGHTLY raise your link standing with a FEW of your classmates. You say you are on your second playthrough, yet you don't know these key points and systems of the game? Right....

All of this is opinion unlike your first claims, so I will just disagree with you here.

You dislike the game. You have made that clear, but you are on a second playthrough? Seems like you are just looking for reasons to bitch about some things, and an excuse to make **** up about the rest of it. And yeah I say make **** up, because of what you said above and in a previous post.

FF4 had good writing yeah, but it was just SAVE THE WORLD. There was nothing that made it stand out. Don't get me wrong I loved FF4, but the writing is not all that amazing. I only played a bit of tactics. Grandia 2 was OK, but you talk about P4 having atrocious dialogue and you list Grandia 2 as better? Wow... XII was OK until they let Vahn talk. I played NIer for an hour and took it back. Tales of the Abyss is great yes, but it is your standard tales of. Great writing, just nothing new.
