Obaa-chan was right... Kabuto #1

Ah, that link made me realise something. It wasn't the number 1 film for that week, but it was the highest new entry. Maybe that's what Kimiden (and Tendou in Kabuto's outro) meant by 'number 1'.

I'm quite surprised it beat Naruto actually. I take it that it's popularity among westerners isn't reflected in Japan?

Naruto gets about the same ratings as a Rider series or Super Sentai series gets.

So obviously Kimiden didn't check his sources. Someone better make a retraction.

From what I was told and unless the modified end of episode trailer the week of the release was lying, I was told that it had hit number one. They also had it on the Kabuto Wikipedia entry which I had used to double check.

I'm usually good with this sort of thing but if this is off then yikes o_o

Maybe it is in comparison to past Rider movies or even with how much cash it ranked in. Hell, maybe I misheard the trailer too and it said something like it will hit number one (which would be strange as they already had the "Dai-Hit" sign). Either way, the last thing I want it to pull an Anime News Network and screw up my info.

Okay I figured it out how it all must have gotten screwed up.

The trailers at the end of the episodes in the week after GSL's release have Tendou saying that his Grandmother quote about how the movie wasn't number one, how it WILL be number 1.

So how did it get skewed?

Best guess: Some fanboy who was watching the raws and didn't know a lick of Japanese heard "Number 1" and automatically assumed that it was the case. Spread it around and posted the info in the wiki entry. The bit about it being the first number 1 since V3 wasn't BS though if I'm not mistaken. (Man where's August when you need him? :P)

So thus I heard about it, saw the trailer and tried to verify it, leading me to the faulty wikipedia tidbit and thus it made the episode.

Yaay, my first retraction. I know how ANN feels now LOL
