Nolan Batman #3: The Dark Knight Rises

Can't say I was too big a fan of this movie. I said so on FB that I don't like this stripped down Batman, with all its fantasy and fun elements taken away. This film was so serious that seeing Batman felt actually jarring and the rare times we saw Batman felt out of place.

I loved that it had Talia! That I thought was fantastic. Great twist that did some cred to the Batman mythos.

But that was another problem. I felt Avengers and John Carter were better at things I love most, like world building. I didn't feel that a Batman Universe or mythology was established. Batman Begins is my favorite that seemed like it was the start, but TDK and TDKR just stripped it down further and further.

LOL, I also answered in FB. But again, I didn't think Nolan needed to build Gotham... Why? First we already know Gotham, second, Nolan's Gotham is pretty much a reflection of the "dirtiest" city in America. It's not like Avenger's world where they needed to connect each Superhero by building the world, it's not like John Carter whose mythos was too classic for most people to know (like how the hell are those things possible on Mars?!), and it's not like KICKASS where they live in a geekworld with people (geeks and non-geeks) familiar with the comic-book world. Nolan wanted to focus on Batman / Bruce Wayne, which we NEVER did get from any of the previous movies. It's Nolan's take on the franchise, and I respect his guts to try out something new, rather than focus on the next big baddie and how Batman can defeat him/her without realizing something within himself.

I want a Batman where Etrigan could be around the corner, where Killer Croc could be waiting. I want the Batman from the last two video games, basically. The Detective, the world, and the fun.

I too would love that, hopefully the next person to take the helm of directing the next Batman would create one that could easily fit the possible Justice League movie, which would make everyone happy.

I don't want a Justice League movie. I do not believe that they could make it anything other than garbage. The ONLY DC movies I enjoyed were the DK series, Batman 1 with Keaton, and that's it.

The one DC movie I was excited for turned out to be complete ****, Green Lantern. I do not believe DC can do the level of quality that Marvel did building up to the Avengers, and then the Avengers movie itself.

While this definitely has my vote, it's unlikely to happen since it'll defeat Blake/Robin's purpose. Terry is definitely the best person to replace Bruce to wear the mantle of Batman, but so does Jean-Paul Valley... But the latter would leave a very dark open-ending since we all know how Jean-Paul treated his responsibility as Batman. Now that you mentioned it though, it would be better if Nolan just treated the Blake revelation in the ending as that of Terry instead of Robin, since it'll make sense for the mantle of Batman to be passed on to him instead of Robin/Nightwing (Though Dick Grayson did become Batman in "Battle of the Cowl", but Tim Drake's history is much more similar to Blake's), which would leave a lot of options for future spinoffs and to continue the Batman legacy.

Tim Drake- Detective and I think John Blake made a mention of having a bad foster family or something. Tim Drake came from a troubled home.

Jason Todd- Hothead.

Tim Drake is also an orphan (though not when he was introduce) and, like Blake, he didn't lose both of his parents at the same time. The two of them first lost their mothers and then their fathers.

Ok, I've had it to mind for a while & got a decent sequel relatively in full.

A new villain, Mr. Freeze, is making large scale attacks around Gotham & no one, even Gotham's new hero, Robin, is able to find or stop him. Blake & Alfred eventually send out a plea to Bruce (much against Alfred's better nature) for Batman to return & he inevitably does, which angers Selina.

Batman makes a comeback & is able to do a much better job at tracking Mr. Freeze, but in a major confrontation, Robin dies, driving Bruce into a vengeful rage to obliterate this new villain, not knowing his relatively noble drive to crime (trying to save his wife). Selina will eventually return as Catwoman to help him but, unable to turn him back to the Bruce she loves, she returns to her life of crime, eventually pissing off Bruce & driving a rift between them.
