I think Hurricaneger is a decent series. But it misses from being great due to certain issues.

For me, it's like the Shinkenger of the early 2000s.
I think Hurricaneger had some neat ideas going on, and it's plots were fun, even if they were rather unimaginative. I blame this on the writer, Jun'ichi Miyashita.

I think the occasional writer, Jun Maekawa did much better.
While Hurri is a decent series for me, I think what hurts it most for me are the characters. While some of the plots are neat, the characters themselves are rather unmemorable imo. And frankly, I don't find the acting to be all that great either. Though I do think Shun Shioya (Red) and Nao Nagasawa (Blue) did fantastic in Gokaiger. Unfortunately, I found their performances in Hurri to be a little underwhelming. And people accuse Geki of having bad characters. :redface2:
While the Gouraijers and Shurikenger had some fun plots going on for them, I didn't find them very fun as characters as they were. Well, Shurikenger was fun, but he takes a sudden darker change in the last 10 eps which I found kinda annoying.

Gozen was kickass at least.
I really liked Oboro. I wish she got to do more.
The Jakanja were mostly wasted potential imo. Tau Zanto was boring and he got written off rather anti-climactically. Furabijo was okay, I really liked her ep with Nanami as it brought more depth into her character. Alas, she gets underused. Chuuzubo was forgettable imo. Manmaruba I did like at the start, until he got resurrected like three times, which is so not cool at all. :redface2: I really liked Wendinu. Sadly, she's also underused. I loved her in the ep where she grows giant. Sargain was kinda cool. But he didn't do much, sadly. I think Satorakura was the best villain in the show. Sandaru was okay, but he appeared way too late, so whatever. :redface2: Oh, and the villain designs were bleh.
The mechas were okay. I liked the Karakuri Balls. But the fights and combination sequences were a little dragged out and unimaginative.
As is common knowledge with Hurricaneger's production, it was technically supposed to be a Liveman meets Kakuranger. The mix is interesting, but unfortunately, it doesn't handle it's elements as well as the two shows before it.
Overall, Hurri is a fun watch, but nothing really groundbreaking in the Sentai franchise. IMO, Gao before it and Aba after it were much more impressive Sentai seasons.
