I'm done watching Goemon (w/ English subs for viewing pleasure) and my verdict: [hide]badass tragic![/hide] and now for the rundown:
[hide]
- This movie had some historical details in which some are inaccurate like Gatling gun, Nobunaga's armor, Saizo's death by boiling cauldron aka Goemon bath and of course, Hideyoshi's death.
- At first, I thought G3's right hand was sliced by the master thief but it confused me as hell. How did he restored his sliced arm back?
- Before he became the Japanese Robin Hood, his family was killed by the Ashikaga elite soldiers before he was almost sold by the bandits until Nobunaga killed those baddies and recruited him to his army. In order to be stronger, the shogun assigned Hanzo Hattori to train him and Saizo. After years of hardship, which includes guarding his niece Chacha, he earned his manliness to the shogun by receiving his Darth Maul-style katana w/ inscriptions saying: Rule the world by force. The following night, he was assassinated by Akechi Mitsuhide, only to be killed by Hideyoshi.
- Saizo only wanted to be a samurai in order to secure his family's future while Goemon wanted to be a free man (master thief apparently).
- Goemon went to the battle to kill G3's ass and he did it before the start of the eclipse. We thought he was about to kill Ieyasu by stabbing Hanzo on his right foot. In reality, he came there to bring a message of peace, reunification and other non-bullshit stuff until he was stabbed on his right kidney by his former retainer, Sasuke. Unfortunately for him, Goemon survived by walking away from battle [hide]or maybe not[/hide].
- In case you didn't know, the one who played Gao aka the white-haired silent tough guy was a South Korean kickboxer named Choi Hong-nam. Aside from Den-o and G3, young Wataru from Decade was in that movie as I don't know his name...[/hide]
