I imagine people would be saying similar things if the 49ers had won it all.
Really, the Giants just hit their stride at the right time and that's how it works in any sport. Sometimes it's not how many games you win but WHICH games you win.
Well, that's the thing. Nobody "deserves" a title. You have to earn it. And like you said, Eli has two and Peyton, as good a guy as he seems, is better known for... well...
It's been two days since the game and I admit that when I wrote that post, I had drank some beers and liquor shots. All that added to the fire since the NFC Title game. I don't think I wouldn't have felt this way had Kyle Williams not fumbled twice. It sucks but I feel back to normal now so I give the Giants all the credit for taking care of what they had to do to win. Eli Manning is very clutch and his throw to Manningham was awesome. I give them credit now. They talked a little too much smack lately though and that was/is annoying (Bradshaw, Rolle, and Tuck).
I mentioned about the 9-7 record because I hope we don't keep seeing teams with these kind of records win the Super Bowl often. It's cool to see once in a while but not every 2 or 3 years. The Packers won last year with a 10-6 record and let's not forget the Arizona Cardinals got to the SB with a 9-7 record. What's next? An 8-8 wildcard team that got outscored big time in the regular season gets hot and wins the SB?
I think Peyton Manning's window of winning another SB is closing. He's 36 and the Colts need to re-build. Their defense is pathetic and has always been that way. If Peyton goes to another team, it's almost like starting over unless he goes to a team that can seriously contend for a title. We will see but for now, Eli is writing himself a great legacy.
