New to Ultraman

I watched Ultraseven X with some in bad quality, so I'm planning to rewatch it later in the sofsubs in Portuguese,

I know the links to Ultraseven X in good quality with decent english subs. On top of that theres a place where you can get Ultraseven X (if youre ready for showa) in Portuguese, considering it hasnt been subbed in english yet.

Did I just step into an alternate dimension where TVN doesn't exist? Is this...the Twilight Zone?

No wait...your google-fu is just weak.

You have softsubs? For the second part, if you mean Ultra Seven, then I'd watch it in Portuguese as well.

Thanks. I was set for 7X thanks to some links to Porteguese softsubs. It looks like I'm set for Ultra Seven as well. Thank you very much.

Erm, not really? People have aversion to them, but that's not the same as actively disliking them. The people I know that have a more open mind to them and even people who have been lifelong fans of the Ultra series do tend to dislike Seven X and Evolution. You can't really say either of those series are like Ultraseven because of how different the tones tend to be compared to the original Ultraseven series and their general narrative failings. I'm discouraging the shows I think are bad because they don't represent the better aspects of the franchise, I wouldn't tell someone new to something to watch a lesser work within the franchise. I never said people shouldn't watch Ultraman in general, heck, the first episode of Evolution is nearly an hour long and doesn't even have an Ultraman in it, not sure why you would recommend that to a newbie.

you're right. I'm a lifelong Ultra series fan and despite Seven being my favourite since I was a little boy, I was confused by Evolution and hated Seven X. my favourites so far are the 1994 - 1999 OVAs though, because they do not take place in the original M78 universe

Has Ultraman The Next been licensed? I am pretty sure you can get it on DVD with english subs. It is a pretty good movie and has one of the best Ultraman designs. It is pretty good for a one-shot =)

Seven-X had a lot of flaws.
The show always felt like the writers just wanted to do a show about two agents hunting down aliens, but needed something to get the viewers attention, so they slapped the "Ultraseven" label on it, knowing that Seven was one of the most popular Ultra-shows out there.

It is really evident in the way the plot is built up. Seven-X gets VERY limited screen time, and most of the fights are pretty much all the same: Seven standing still, looking at the alien, then kills it within 20 seconds.

For a show that is only 12 episodes long, they wasted so much on filler stories that had very little or no connection to the main plot, and they did it to a point where everything had to be wrapped up in the last few episodes. The characters were boring, and the overall theme of the show had already been done to death in many other sci-fi shows.

I also think that many people were disappointed because they expected an Ultraseven remake. The original Ultraseven was good, and I mean REALLY good.
They had the chance to make an adult-minded remake of Ultraseven without any limitations, and instead they give us this crap which is nowhere near as perfect as the original.

It's an alternate universe. I read Ultra Seven was good at showing moral dilemmas. I thought Ultra Seven X did decent in that department. It also had great special effects and a good script. I will watch the original soon, but for now I think X was decent for a show that has almost nothing to do with Ultra Seven.
