Variety is reporting that Lionsgate will announce a new Speed Racer cartoon today. Nickelodeon's cartoon network Nicktoons has committed to airing the first 26 episodes of the series. Current plans state that the cartoon will begin airing early next year in time for the live-action Speed Racer movie. The Animation Collective (Kappa Mikey) was named as the animation studio for the new cartoon.
The new series will focus on the son of the original Speed Racer, learning to drive the Mach 6 supercar at a racing academy against the mysterious Racer X. The original Speed Racer's younger brother Spritle will be the headmaster of the racing academy, and will be voiced by Peter Fernandez, who provide the English voice of the original Speed Racer.

Speed Racer Beyond? Speed Racer: TNG? "Son of Speed?", I don't know how this will work without alienating half the fandom.
America's never gotten their adaptations of SR right either. As the 1990's SR series proved beyond all doubt.
