Even then they are still ridiculous looking when trying to import that to a liver action movie. G1 was and is too blocky. They did a test (which will probably become a special feature when the movie comes to DVD) to see how well the old school designs would work.

They wouldn't have to use the exact models as I agree the G1 stuff does look a little blocky but those designs weren't impossible to work with. I mean Optimus's design is both classic and easy to believe despite it's blockiness.

They keep the Transformers 'look' whilst not being too cartoony/blocky and unbelievable.
