Never Stop! Changeman Discussion Thread

IIRC, it's because Flashman was running behind schedule that Changeman ran longer than expected. The series was originally shooting for 51 episodes before it got that extension.

Yeah, because of that, Changeman wounded up being the 2nd longest running sentai series. Goranger, of course, was the longest running series with 84 episodes, Kakuranger was 3rd longest with 53 episodes, & Battle Fever J was 4th longest with 52 episodes.

Yeah, i think that was actually mentioned in a Flashman databook or something.

I've always wondered if they couldn't provide some extra budget for Changeman's extension, given how some scenes in the last few episodes are poorly (literally) done. Content-wise, it doesn't even feel like there was an extension though, since it never drags and everything works well in the last arc.

Changeman is my second favorite sentai ever, but it really does take a while for it to get going and really shine. If you can get through or even enjoy the first bunch of episodes, I'd say up until episode 7, then the show's likely going to be golden for you.

The first five episodes to me were actually pretty awesome, so I'm guessing I've got quite the ride ahead of me.

Episode 4: Before I start, there was something I was wondering. Sheema. Is Sheema a woman with a man's voice for some reason? If yes, is there a story reason behind it, or is this "It's a 1980's Sentai, just go with it."?

As for the episode itself, I found it very enjoyable. As a focus episode for Change Griffin, I thought it was more... well, focused than Change Dragon's, before it, which seemed to focus more on the Motorcycle than the character's story. Got to keep Bandai happy, I guess.

This one managed to get some nice development for bot Change Griffin and Sheema, and the fact they brought up that Sheema was raised on the Space Beastman's milk makes me thing that'll come int play diwn the line.

Episode 4 Onore Count: 1

Sheema is very interesting as a villain, and the fact that she speaks with a man's voice results in an unbelievably hilarious sequence down the line. The first time I watched episode 4, I didn't care for it much, but on the second time through, it clicked for me what sort of character Chage Griffin was and why he acted the way he did, so I found the episode and others focusing on him later on much more enjoyable than I did before.

There is a reason, maybe not what you'd expect, but it's addressed later on.

as i remember, you watch changeman after finishing jetman right?

for the trivia, change dragon played once in jetman episode.
he played as the youth friend of tendo ryu whom played rugby

yes, he's an assh0le there. who would've guest:laugh:

Episode 5: Change Dragon riding his motorcycle in a hearing. Like. A. Boss.

This episode wasn't as focused on Change Pegasus as I would have liked, but it did give us what his goal is as soon as the battles are done.

The kidnapping of the granddaughter of a high ranking member of the military force was a nice idea, and the document that Booba gave to him had some surprisingly good English for something that was only on screen for a few seconds in Japanese show.

Episode 5 Onore Count: 2

A really nice thing about this episode was the way the team acted like a military special unit in the second half with all the planning and sneaking and diversions, it was really great stuff.

Plus, things did become a little more global in scale, and that's always nice.

I love this series. The first episode is just so exciting. The series never drags IMO. It stays fun and exciting from the first to last episode.
