No sooner does IDW announce a reprint omnibus of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures, Archie Comics’ adaption of the TV show Turtles (which were in turn adaptions from a comic book)…than NECA reveals these cool-looking TMNT figures based on that comic, faithfully reproducing the rubbery Ken Mitchroney art in 3D. These figures actually come from a specific issue: Number 7, the one where the Turtles were transported to a wrestling tournament in space, and were forced to fight against their will by Stump, literally a talking tree. There they faced opponents Leatherhead, a giant dog named Cryin’ Houn’, and weirdly enough, Ace Duck, who was a muscle-bound superhero in this world and not a TV show character. Should I also mention that the way the Turtles were kidnapped was getting swallowed by a giant floating cow head? And that the cow head (whose name was Cudley) became a recurring element for the next few issues, confusing everyone who picked up the crossover Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Meet Archie (that is how they got into Riverdale, Cudley spit them out there)?
