NBA 2012/13 Season Discussion Thread

Playoffs are now set. Lots of action on Wednesday and a lot of star players sat out. Can't believe the Rockets blew their wad and fell down to the 8th seed. They played a great game against the Lakers and Parsons had a line-driving three to tie the game. With the Rockets facing the Thunder in the 1st round now, I smell a sweep. I mean, who else knows James Harden's game better than the Thunder right?

I can see the Lakers maybe winning one game against the Spurs since the Spurs are not looking 100% right now. I mean, they lost to the T'Wolves at home too. But other than that, I see the Spurs beating the Lakers in 4 or 5 games.

Congrats to Stephen Curry for breaking the 3-pointers made in a season record. If any player deserves it, it's him. He struggled against the Blazers but the win capped off a great season for him and the team. It's going to be a fun series when they play the Nuggets.

Lastly, the Clippers and the Kings had a fun game to watch. It went back and forth with both teams exchanging leads. Jamal Crawford and Marcus Thornton had a battle to see who was the better shooter off the bench. I think Crawford won this battle this time. So with the Clippers winning, they get a rematch with the Grizzlies and it's gonna be a slobberknocker (Jim Ross' term). About the Kings, I hope they stay in Sacramento. The crowd was alive for this game and they should not lose the team.

Miami vs Milwaukee has got to be the most predictable series in the playoffs. Bucks are getting hammered bad by the Heat. I'm expecting them to get swept.

Well, I knew the Rockets were not gonna stand a chance against the Thunder. I really did not like how they blew their load late in the regular season and fell to the #8 seed. I think if they had stayed as #7, they would've presented a challenge to the Spurs. But with this match-up, the Thunder are just too much for them. Lin got outplayed big time by Russell Westbrook. It was sad to watch him commit turnovers after turnovers.

The team that climbed up to the #7 seed in the Lakers couldn't make any shots against the Spurs. It was a low scoring game in the first half until the Spurs kinda blew it up in the second half. I still think the Lakers can win at least one game in this series because they dont seem to quit and they have two big men who can have big games.

The Miami Heat had their way against the Bucks. At least Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis were able to keep up the scoring for the Bucks but it got out of hand in the 4th. This series is the one that will be over quick in 4 games.

Not much to say about the Pacers and Hawks game. I didn't see it because it was too early for me. Lol...But Paul George was a beast with his triple double. He's definitely one of the best former Fresno State Bulldog players of all-time now.

What a shooting clinic the Warriors displayed against the Nuggets in Game 2. It seemed like they weren't going to miss any shots they took. Everyone was on fire or something. Marc Jackson made a gutsy move to put Jarrett Jack in the starting lineup and have Barnes play PF. It was a small ball lineup but it worked. Now George Karl has to consider countering that move by inserting Andre Miller or keep Evan Fournier as the SG.

Knicks and Celtics always seem to play low scoring games. The final scores usually end in the 80s or low 90s. No different in this game. Carmelo continues to be on fire and I can see this series ending in probably 5 games. The Celtics could win one at home for the Boston crowd who need it after the recent bomb attacks.

The Bucks had Ellis and Jennings who kept themselves in the game during Game 1. In Game 2, it was the opposite as they were horrible while Ersan and Larry Sanders picked up the slack. Too bad it wasn't enough as the Heat still had their way with them.

Milwaukee can only hope that the stars line up for them...and that LeBron and Wade have a terrible night. As it stands right now, they have no prayer.

Poor Jeremy Lin. First he got embarrassed by Russell Westbrook in Game 1 and then in Game 2, he gets injured and doesn't play in the second half. I hope he can bounce back before this series is over. But yeah, I wonder if McHale's decision to start Patrick Beverly was influenced by Mark Jackson's decision to go small against Denver. It worked for a half but the Thunder was barely able to overcome it. Overall, this was a fun game to watch.

The Lakers were able to compete with the Spurs in the first half but things change in the second half. The Spurs just pulled away and Dwight Howard got into foul trouble. It's all gonna come down to defense and making stops if the Lakers can expect to win at all.

Lastly, the Pacers just continues to whoop whoever they play. Two straight blowouts on the Hawks. I don't even know if they can win one game. They could though. But yeah, I like this Pacers team and they are a threat to face against.

An absolutely dismal performance from the Lakers and a strong outing from the Spurs leads to a crazy 31 point lead, Spurs take it 120-89. If the Lakers win the next game, that's definitely going to be their only win, and likely to be driven by the embarrassing loss this game.

The Lakers put up a decent performance during some of the third quarter, but the Spurs outclassed them throughout the entire game, pulling away right from the first quarter. This is going to be the first time in decades that the Lakers get knocked out of the first round of the playoffs, and not undeservedly, they're playing terrible most of the time.
