But the Lakers also gave up a 1st round pick, which doesn't really matter since all of their picks are near the bottom,

There are 15 guys on a team right? The starting 5 are the only good ones on the team. The rest are free-loaders. The sooner they skadaddle, the better.

Now I want them to realize how it is to actually struggle to get a ring.

Hardly, they have a fairly good capable bench. Even the 2 rookies can come in and be quite productive. Everyone goes through rough spots, individually and as a unit. They have one of the better benches in the league. They're going through a rough time here at the beginning, hopefully it has ended. Can't say I haven't been frustrated by it, but it surely isn't abnormal for teams.

Ahh. Well, I wouldn't say all of the Lakers bench are free loaders. Shannon, Steve, and Matt make the bench pretty good. But I would agree that the rest of the bench other than those 3 isn't playing up to par with everyone else. But then again, there are 2 rookies who is still learning how to play as a Laker. Btw, the Lakers are picking up Joe Smith in the trade. Let's see how that turns out........
