My stance on sharing and bootlegging

So I guess Kyo would have no problem with burning me copies of Spider-Man and only charging me postage and disc fee after he's shelled out some serious moolah for the box set. Because that's the right thing to do. Good stuff!.

I do not nor have I ever copied officially licensed DVD’s that I have bought. I don’t do so for money and I don’t do so for free. If people want official DVD’s, they can buy them like I did.

Things that I WILL do:
- help people find the cheapest way to buy official DVD’s, FOR FREE
- make encodes of some episodes off my DVD’s and upload them, so people can sample a series before buying. I do this FOR FREE
- share encodes of TV broadcast, FOR FREE
- write up reviews of official DVD’s with screenshots, to inform potential buyers, FOR FREE

Please do not confound my official DVD’s with bootlegged DVD’s being sold for 100 or 30 USD per set.
Please do also not confound the encodes I share FOR FREE with DVD’s being sold for 100 or 30 USD per set.

Never have I done something for money and never have I sold bootlegs of official DVD’s. So please do not use me as an example to justify selling bootlegs at a profit. I don’t want to get mixed up in that kind of business. This is not aimed at anyone in particular, but I wanted my stance on this matter to be as clear as possible.

I gladly help fans and I do so with a lot of love for the series involved, whether it be by giving out information, sharing files or writing reviews... but I never make money out of it and I never sell bootleg copies of official DVD's.

I was perfectly happy minding my own business when my name was dragged into a discussion I had no part in. I just wanted to make sure there are no misunderstandings on my viewpoint, that's all.

selling encodes for a profit and not wanting to make illegal bootleg copies of official DVD's are two very different things and dragging me into it, sarcastically or not, was uncalled for.

If stating your opinion is ban-worthy, then by all means ban me.

So, if mods or admins feel this thread is in violation with the rules or could derail, feel free to lock it. I've made my statement, that's all I wanted.
