Music!

Geez, I'm all over the place music-wise. I'm a big fan of a lot of Cantonese/Japanese rock and hip-hop bands like Asian Kung Fu Generation, doa, X Japan, Josi Chan Dragon Ash, FLOW, LMF, Nicholas Tse, The Pillows, Psycho le Cemu, Wu Bai, The Yellow Monkey, The B'z, etc.

I love classical music too, mainly Bach, Pachabel, Vivaldi, and Mozart, classical is elegant and calming. Thumbs up.

I'm also a fan of guitar virtuosos and instrumentalists like Joe Satriani, Tomoyasu Hotei, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Vinnie Moore, etc. And no, I don't like Malmsteen.

Then there's those crazy combinations of folks and "new age" which really jives with my soul, like Ottmar Liebert (Flamenco guitar) and Agatsuma Hiromitsu and the Yoshida Brothers (shamisen, also my intrument of choice).

I'm also down wit da gangsta raps. However, I'm not so big into the really mainstream artists. I think the popular audience just doesn't know what's good. I take selections from Swollen Members, Styles of Beyond, Smokin Suckaz Wit Logic, Peanut Butter Wolf, Moka Only, Jin (The Emcee), and even some of Kenji's (from Dragon Ash) solo stuff.

I'm sure there's more, but it must not be hugely important because it's not jumping at me.

Honestly, I'll listen to just about anything. As long as it has a decent beat to it I don't really care

Pretty sick bands you just mentioned. Here's my personal favorites...

Top Rock/Metal bands
A7X
Iron Maiden
Deftones
Metallica
RedHotChilliPeppers

Eminem!!

The only rap artist I really seem to like!! His lyrics are really funny ("Hey kids, do you like violence?" :P). 50 Cent blows though. He's a sissy and his videogame "Bulletproof" is too sassy!! Play as 50 Cent running around in a tutu blowing his pistols around like an idiot!!

I thought that only british bands were from the NWOBHM.

Listen to MetallicA's Kill em All, Lightning, Puppets, and Justice. It's basically American thrash metal with european/nwobhm influence in it. Metallica was the first band to do that which is why they used to be so good. Same with Megadeth.

Of course anything Metallica has created in the past 15 years has been crap compared to their earlier tr00 stuff.

European Metal is the best.

OK, I see!

Her's my list:

- Metallica, just look at the banner!
- Iron Maiden
- Slayer
- Trivium :buttrock:
- Dragonforce
- George Duke, (he's a great pianist!)

Some of my favorite musicians in tokusatsu and anime include Akira Ifukube (my absolute favorite), Shunsuke Kikuchi, Michiaki Watanabe, Tooru Fuyuki, Masaru Satou, Kunio Miyauchi, Takeo Watanabe, Hiroshi Tsutsui, Kou Ootani, Michiru Ooshima and many others.

Japanese singers? My absolute favorite is Masato Shimon. Others include Ichirou Mizuki, Isao Sasaki, Mitsuko Horie and Hironobu Kageyama.

As for other types of music, I love classical, jazz (the cool bop type), rock & roll, surf, ska, new-wave and alternative. I also love parody music, wacky songs and stuff.

Some of my favorite musicians include Vince Guaraldi, Rod McKuen, Tom Lehrer, Weird Al Yankovic, Man or Astro Man, Misfits (which I got into thanks to a friend of mine), They Might Be Giants, Optiganally Yours, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Voltaire, Gorillaz, JG Thirlwell (AKA: Foetus and Steroid Maximus), Lemon Demon and many, many others. I'm also a huge fan of Dr. Demento and the songs/sketches featured therein! Lots of wacky and weird stuff, which I got into back in my early teen years!
