Honestly, I do agree that the whole torture-porn genre of movies is getting driven into the ground recently ( but there are some that I can appreciate, like the first Saw and the Guinea Pig series. ) I don't really want them to bring down the hammer too hard -- I'm all for creative freedom and that sorta thing -- but if it means we'll get more creative horror films that don't rely on cheap gore for shock value then that's cool too.
sidenote: regarding kids in the theatre for R-rated movies, I remember going to see Watchmen and some dad brought in his 10-year-old son and his friend. Thaaat must've made for an awkward dinner conversation when they left, hahah.
