MMPR The 1st, and Worst!

my question is why was disney the only company that wanted to buy power rangers?

When Saban went bankrupt, they had to sell everything they had, and the one company that could and wanted to buy it all was Disney. I can't say I'm happy about it either, but it's what happened.

I feel that, as a child/teen/young adult, looking back on all the shows I enjoyed back then, I still enjoy today. Except MMPR. Season 3-on was okay, but the first two were pretty lame.

My interest started dying after they gypped on us all the pathos they were wringing out of Tommy when he started to lose his powers for good, then they brought him back as the white ranger. Before that, the show was unstoppable. I barely watched 3 at all.

haha mighty morphin got away with so much ****, it's not even funny

basically this thread is about how Saban screwed up.

What are your views on mighty morphin?, and did you like how

they had 3 seasons?

i've also been thinking, JetMan would of been a kickass mighty Morphin

and Dairanger would of been a Kickass Zeo. What do you think?

I mean look at White Swan, that just screams kimberly!

Because it was the 90's.

Yeah, there were a ton of mistakes. Saban was working under extreme budget constrictions (self imposed for the most part, but I digress) and couldn't afford costumes that looked like the Zyurangers (green ranger shield anyone) or shot new footage for a new villian (or choose not to) and had to make due with a badly dubbed Bandora. And you know what? We still loved it. Almost everyone here picks Rita as a favorite villian, we didn't notice the costumes, and we loved the characters (probably MMPR's biggest asset).

I'm just sayin, yeah, MMPR screwed up a lot but it did something right, because most people compare it favorably to later, and more well done technically, seasons.

Well the thing is, nothing like that (as far as I know of) had ever been tried at the time, so sure there are going to be mistakes. But eventually they got it right. I think MMPR S1 and 2 were ok, 3 was crap, but they starting getting it right around the time of Zeo. Dont really know what happened with Turbo (I guess they tried to make a serious season with campy Sentai footage, not a good combo), but once iS came along, it really hit a breakthrough. They did some amazing work from iS to WF, and I'll admit even WF wasnt all THAT bad (bad actors aside).

But whoever you are, how ever old you were, wherever you were the first time you saw it, you know that when the Dragonzord combined with the other zords to form the Megadragon Zord (Or fighting mode, or whatever) it completely rocked your world. God I know it did mine. :D

OF course there's a lot of mistakes with the Saban era of MMPR. They were just starting out. The storyline and characterizations didn't start until late in season 1 after The Green Candle.
