Passing on the torch...

ooooooh the feels…

And that is fantastic news. Won't surprise me if we get console versions now.

Agreed. The kickstarter is already at 1.3 million bucks with 28 days left. Let's get this thing to consoles, guys.

Also, I noticed that comic on Facebook along with another one on DeviantArt where Classic Megaman passes the torch to Mighty No.9's Beck, very much like how the Sentai Hand-offs work with the previous Sentai passing the torch to the new team.

EDIT: Second stretch goal reached. There's going to be version of the game for Mac and Linux.

A "thank you" message from Inafune now that the project reached its original goal...

I'll be happy if the game gets a New Game Plus ($1,500,000). Anything else after that is just gravy.

On one hand this seems kinda cool. I certainly wish it well and hope the final product turns out good.

On the other hand, it's a little sad. This is a man who left the company and caused the whole MML3 controversy in the first place because he complained that he "wanted to make new and unique games". Instead of doing that, so far he's only worked on re-hashes of previous properties.

Is that what happened? I was under the impression that Inafune would've gladly made Legends 3 himself but Capcom wouldn't let him. Isn't the general consensus that Capcom killed MML3?

Either way, considering how stagnant the Mega Man franchise has been under Capcom, barring the comic by Archie, I'm glad to see Inafune carrying on the torch with Mighty No. 9

The actual situation is a helluva lot more complicated than that.

"It's all Capcom's fault and nothing but Capcom's fault" is just the story that's gotten shouted out the most by the loudest voices on the internet and thus is what gets preached as the truth even when it's not.

Now I'm not saying Capcom is innocent of any wrong-doing in this scenario but them being the ONLY ones blamed for it is wrong too.

Well, that's the thing, I'm not really sure this is going to be the big, new Mega Man experience people are hyping themselves up for as a lot of this looks like a fan-made Mega Man ZX sequel.

While I loved the two ZX games and will more than happily take a new game like it (especially now that it's cleared the handheld port threshold), I'm just hoping people aren't working themselves up to a massive disappointment if it doesn't turn out to be as spectacular as they seem to think it's going to be.
