[Megaranger] where have I seen the Galaxy Mega before?

This is something that's bothering me. When you see the Galaxy Mega, especially that side-view close up of its face when its dashing forward with its sword...

Well, I just get a strong feeling of "I know this guy from somewhere." And no, NOT Power Rangers.

I can't find any info about it online, so I'm asking. I've read that Daizyujin was an homage to Voltron and GaoKing was an homage to GaoGaiGar, so is Galaxy Mega an homage to some anime? If so, which one? (For some reason I'm suspecting Vehicle Voltron, but I doubt that's it)

I thought Galaxy Mega was an homage to the Bioman Robo?

They're also plenty of Sentai Mechs that pay tribute to Voltron. Any feline based Mecha like Gekitouja, Ginga-Oh etc.. Even Dragon Caesar's warrior mode is very Voltron-esqe. Any Sentai robot that has that face-dropping feature from an animal's mouth reminds me of Voltron.

Yeah most of the mechs are homages, its just that in Galaxy Mega's case I get a really strong sense of familiarity but I just can't place where I recognize him from. Something tells me its not Voltron (though he does bear strong similarities to the Five-Lion version, just blue instead of black and red) but rather some other robot who is a more precise match.

I'm thinking it's probably one of the Transformers. Ultra Magnus, maybe?

Hi. I want to say it bears a striking resemblance to Ramrod, or Bismarck. From Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs. The only Magnus-like vibe I get is his eyes.

I just looked up Ramrod.... I don't see a Galaxy Mega comparison. If anything Ramrod looks kinda like the Magna Defender (I dunno what MD was called in the Sentai so excuse my using his Power Rangers name).

Galaxy Mega REALLY gives me a transformers vibe tho, I think because of that plate he has over his mouth area. That so conveys "Optimus Prime" to me. In fact I'm all but convinced that I'm basically seeing a blue Optimus, but I'm still not 100% convinced.

According to Ranger wiki it is a nod to Biorobo. As for seeing it in another anime not sure really, unless you are thinking of Gear Fighter Dendoh for some reason.

Comparing pictures of Galaxy Mega to Bio Robo.... I can see the similarity in their builds despite the color being different. Also Bio Robo itself kind of reminds me of Mazinger Z, so maybe I'm having whole nests of deja vu.

The Galaxy Mega, in ship mode, kind of reminds me of the Enterprise from Star Trek.
