Megaman X

Hey now, Resident Evil had a decent storyline.

Anyways, I love the X series, but I'm a bigger fan of the original Megaman. To this day, I think the best ones were X1, X4, X5, and X8.

And they also feature the most badass character in the whole series:

How many guys can come back from death....TWICE?

Well Zero is the REAL Hero of Mega man, he's the only character to appear in all three timelines of the 616 universe.

Four if you count ZX. Well, he was turned into a Biometal, but he still had sentience.

Fun Fact: Keji Inafune planned for Zero to be Megaman X, but he didn't think the older fans could relate to him.

616 universe? This isn't Marvel comics dude ... :sly:

As much as I love the MegaMan X series, I think MegaMan Zero is the best series out of those in the "core" continuity. It's really easy to see that MMZ was Inafune's precious baby. I mean, unlike the original Mega Man, or X, Zero actually has a beginning, middle and end with a pretty cohesive story.

I also liked Zero's character more in the MMZ series as opposed to X. In X he is just the stereotyped angsty warrior with long hair, and people always thought he was a girl (Something I never really understood). In MMZ Zero is more of the lonely warrior, displaced in time. He's hardened and speaks more with action than with words. In many ways Zero in MMZ is like a force of nature rather than just being a simple Repliroid.

I recall reading in an interview a long time back that Inafune wanted Zero to be the main character in MMX, but Capcom made him create and use X in that place because they were afraid that fans wouldn't 'get' a MegaMan that wasn't blue ... or something odd like that.

We all know 616 is known as a term that means "Core universe" and it's easier to type than "Core universe"....Geez.

But it applies specifically to the core Marvel comics universe and none others ... and I've never heard it used as a general term. It makes it sound like you were trying to tie Mega Man to Peter Parker. *shrugs*

Yeah Im kind of glad he didnt make Zero the Megaman X of the games. I think he's kewl because he's the Tommy of the series. He's different, he came onto the scene as more of a superior to MegamanX. And he was just an all around bad ass.

I thought Zero was a girl at first too, btw. Because in the first MMX game, it was hard to tell what gender he was. The hair really threw me off. But the original Zero > all other incarnations. I hated all the other designs of the guy. MMX's Zero is the only Zero.

If he's angsty, he's got fucking good reason. Iris, Wily, Reploids, Z-virus. The guy has been through a lot.
