The movie was incredibly hyped up, and I don't think it necessarily lived up to expectations. From the get go I was wary of Snyder since I don't think he is really creatively capable anything like the Nolan works, or even something along the lines of Spider-man 2, X2 and Iron Man 1. Of course, with Nolan and David S. Goyer in the wings helping out, I thought he would be able to pull it off, but he only managed to get about halfway off the ground.

The Smallville flashbacks as well as anything with Jor-El I think really was superb and Snyder integrated those flashbacks really well with what was happening to Clark in the past. Costner, Lane and Crowe really help build the emotional core of the film, but there isn't really anything that comes of it other than Snyder putting it in our faces that Jor-El and his people failed their planet, and that Clark was a damaged boy with loving parents. With the film constantly hustling and bustling from story point to story point, I think the film would have really benefited from more scenes from Smallville since it would help the film breathe instead of being at a constant climax.

Action was incredible. Absolutely phenomenal. Gratuitous? Yes, but it is Superman and I loved it. Michael Shannon's General Zod was sick, but I was waiting for a 'Kneel before Zod!' but I guess Snyder was smart enough not to tread previous films like J.J Abrams did in Into Darkness. Nice Wayne Ent. and Lexcorp easter eggs as well.

Amy Adams was a great Lois Lane and I enjoyed Lawrence Fishburne's Perry White. Then again, I generally like Fishburne in whatever he does. He has a few great moments.

Not great, but not utterly terrible though.

I couldn't stand the flick. The sequence of events does not have a natural progression. To me, the flashbacks just kind of happened and, while they did have bearing on what was currently happening, the film would have benefited from them happen BEFORE they were relevant to the present-day plot. Planting and paying off is what it's called. Also, talk about emotional whiplash. Going straight from the anguished Superman at the end of the final battle to the smirking, "Looking for where I hang my cape?" Superman is just so awkward.

I hated Pa Kent. Kevin Costner did fine, but the character is awful! "Hey, Clark, you probably shoulda let that bus full of classmates drown to death, you know, 'cause secrecy." "Hey, invincible teenage son, let me go save the dog in the giant tornado. Remember, don't save me if I'm about to die, you know, 'cause secrecy." Ridiculous. Also, Amy Adams' Lois Lane lacked any power whatsoever.

By the way, Jesus pose. Good Lord...

I'm just elated that people actually AGREE with my distaste for the film! From what my friends were saying after seeing it, I thought that I would be the only person in existence who hated it. Thanks, HJU!

IM3 wasn't great to begin with. I thought this movie was really enjoyable, I wish there was more hand to hand combat, but the action was still overall amazing.

I thought the flashbacks were fine, because it strayed away from the usual origin telling formula, but I can also see how with some they were misplaced.

I liked Henry's Clark, he could have had more smiling/melo nice guy scenes, but that's only minor.

What I didn't like was the speed of Clark and Lois' relationship.

Wow, what movie did you people watch?! They spent to much time on the walking the earth thing?! The whole last hour and a half of it brawling...what the hell else do you want?! This movie even made Jor-El a complete badass!! Never have I felt this way for a comic book movie. I guess some of you people wanted this to be directed by that hack Nolan so Supes would have been a mentally deranged person who thought he was a alien instead of really being one. To all those thinking about seeing this movie, do yourself a favor and do it! This movie has more heart then all three previous Batfilms out together. Cavil brought so much emotion to the character that I had to fight back tears at times. The flashbacks serve their purpose, and the only negative is that you want to see more of the relationship between Pa and young Clark. I loved this movie more then any Marvel produced film so far, and I'm a die hard Marvel fan. After seeing this movie and comparing it to IM3 it makes me laugh how bad Supes made IM look. To each their own and all, but you people dissing this movie might need to turn in your comic book card. Ya looking like posers. Supes kicked wholesale ass nuff said!!

You assume that people give a crap about the comics at all when watching movies based on the comics. I mean I have read all the comics based on these and the marvel movies, and I could care less what the comics do. The movies are their own thing.
