Loot Studios, known for its 3D-printable miniatures, has officially ventured into tabletop game publishing with its debut game, Malediction. Available now on Gamefound, this new miniatures-based card game (MCG) combines strategic deck-building with the creativity of customizable, 3D-printed miniatures. The campaign runs until February 4, 2024, with broader retail availability planned later. Unique Gameplay and Features Malediction was developed over three years by Loot Studios‘ team of artists, designers, and writers. The tabletop game introduces players to Angar, an ancient world fraught with conflict. Players assume the role of Seekers, leading warbands in search of powerful relics hidden in a hostile region. The game features dynamic terrain and customizable decks. Malediction has four distinct factions: Primal Blood, Order of the Shattered Throne, Conclave of Spheres, and Legion of the Fallen. Matches can be played 1v1 or 2v2, offering varied gameplay experiences. Players battle opposing factions and other challengers. Wow, this is fantastic news for miniature and tabletop game fans! Loot Studios has been a great source for 3D-printable miniatures, and their jump into publishing a full game with Malediction is exciting. The combination of strategic deck-building and customizable miniatures is a perfect marriage of mechanics, offering a ton of replayability. Plus, having a renowned fantasy author like Tracy Hickman involved in the lore creation is the cherry on top. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy and delve into the world of Angar. The different factions and dynamic terrain configurations also add a great deal of strategic depth. This is definitely a project I'll be backing on Gamefound!

Malediction has me intrigued with its blend of deck-building and miniatures gameplay. The focus on customizable decks and dynamic terrain means every match can be a unique strategic challenge. I'm particularly interested in exploring the strengths and weaknesses of the four factions: Primal Blood, Order of the Shattered Throne, Conclave of Spheres, and Legion of the Fallen. Each seems to offer a distinct playstyle, and figuring out how to counter opposing strategies will be a rewarding puzzle. The fact that Malediction can be played 1v1 or 2v2 adds another layer of strategic consideration. This is a game that rewards planning and adaptation, and I'm eager to test my skills against friends.

Malediction looks interesting on paper, but I'm reserving judgment until I see some reviews. A miniatures-based card game is a new concept, and it remains to be seen how well the mechanics come together in practice. The reliance on 3D-printed miniatures is a potential sticking point for some players who might not have access to a printer or the know-how to use one. The price point of $69.99 for the starter box seems a bit high, especially considering the need for additional expansions to expand warbands and decks. I'll be watching Malediction's progress with curiosity, but I'm not convinced it's a must-buy just yet

Having Tracy Hickman involved in the creation of Malediction's lore is a huge selling point for me. His work on Dragonlance and Ravenloft is legendary, and his ability to craft rich and immersive worlds is undeniable. The fact that Malediction offers a lore-rich world to complement the gameplay is a major plus. I'm eager to learn more about Angar, the different factions vying for power, and the dormant relics that players are fighting to control. The combination of strategic gameplay and a compelling narrative is a surefire recipe for fun.

Loot Studios' focus on community engagement is refreshing to see. Their experience at PAX Unplugged, where they listened to player feedback and saw the excitement for Malediction firsthand, is a positive sign. Their commitment to ongoing support through expansions is also appreciated. A healthy and engaged community is essential for any tabletop game's long-term success, and Loot Studios seems to be on the right track. I'm looking forward to joining the Malediction community and sharing strategies, experiences, and maybe even some custom 3D-printed miniatures!
