Malediction seems like it’ll be a great game for competitive play. The fact that players can tailor their decks and creatures to suit their personal strategies, combined with 1v1 and 2v2 modes, gives the game great replayability. I also love the balance between creatures and spells—it’s clear that the designers are focused on creating a fair, skill-based game, which is important for those of us who love a challenge. The fact that the game already includes two Seekers per box is a nice touch for strategic diversity.

I appreciate that Loot Studios has gone the extra mile to add unique factions and characters that feel like they belong to a living, breathing world. The Primal Blood faction, in particular, seems fascinating with its mix of giant blood and magic creating mutated creatures. I can see a lot of storytelling potential in these factions.

I had the chance to demo Malediction at PAX Unplugged, and I was impressed by how well the game flowed. The quick 30-minute demo setup was great for getting a taste of the gameplay without a huge time commitment. I appreciated the opportunity to test both printed and painted miniatures, which really gave a sense of the game’s versatility. The reactions from other players were overwhelmingly positive, and it’s clear that the game has a lot of potential to catch on.
