Lion Maru G - Talkback

Didn't someone mention that the title was Lion Maru G with the "G" standing for Ghetto? Looking at the opening credits from the first two eps it actually says, "LION-MARU, the Beast Transformed Gigolo Warrior" which cracks me up because of his job in the first ep.
Well, it wasn't just mentioned. All the Japanese blog sites and such that listed the news of the show stated that the "G" stood for "Ghetto."

It's interesting though, seems the subtitle for the original 1972 series was "The Beast-Transformed Ninja Warrior." But here Shishimaru isn't much of a ninja.

Has any of those site cleared up the name confusion?

Don't think so, the Japanese Wikipedia page for the show states that the "G" still stands for "Ghetto." The few pages that came up in a google search seem to maintain this.

Perhaps the "Gigolo" thing is more of a title for the character rather than the show itself.

what is this and why are there no pictures?
Here's the official site, not much there though,

and a magazine scan with all the characters:

At first I thought it was just bad Engrish, but I guess it actually fits this series pretty good.

Sequel to a pair of series from the...70's I think. It's made by the same people as Garo, basically the main characters are reincarnated versions of the original heros.

I wouldn't call it "adult" either. It's like Garo (aimed at older audiences and airs after midnight), but more light-hearted and significantly more perverted. I'd compare it to Vanny Knights, but better (from what I've seen anyway). It's also not as CG heavy, and so far doesn't seem to be going the psuedo "toy commercial" route of Garo. At least not yet anyway.

I thought it was only Amemiya involved, and he only has a "project planner" credit for this, doesn't he? Which is a pretty bogus credit, his involvement could simply be, "Hey, why don't we remake Lion Maru?"
