Lion Maru G - Talkback

Episode 10 was pretty much all comedy, but I really enjoyed it. It had me laughing quite a bit, there was plenty of funny. I liked the idea of Kosu K putting together a birthday party for Saori and getting Shishimaru and everyone at Dreamin' to help out, even Haruna and Haruka. This was like the only time so far those two were actually funny. I also can't forget the intro either, it was freakin' hilarious listening to Shishimaru sing along to "Kaze yo Hikari yo."

As far as it's serious moments, Kashin Koji warns of the final battle being close and for Jounosuke to join forces with Shishimaru. Jounosuke definitely doesn't like the idea, and he's very much fighting it. But now that Gousan has ordered both their deaths, no matter how reluctant Jou is, there's no avoiding the team-up.

With this calm "before the storm" come and gone, next week looks very good. Both our heroes are in for the fight of their lives with Lion-Tiger's debut. Too bad with only 3 episodes left, supposedly, he obviously won't be staying around long. Can't wait to see the final battle with Gousan though, and I hope he takes on an even more demonic form than he did at the end of this epsiode. I mean he is the reincarnation of Gosun right?

Anyway, I am really sad to see the series ending so soon. I can only hope for some sort of follow-up. I'm also really interested to see if any other P-Pro heroes get a remake/sequel of their own. I see on the Englsih Wiki page for P-Pro that they had a thing for heroes based on the big cats.

Major Spoilers...

[HIDE]Just watched the dailes of the last few episodes. Except for Kosu-K and Saori, EVERYONE gets slaughtered by the Shadow. The cafe owner, everyone at Dreamin', Junior, even the cram school teacher...

Gets pretty serious near the end. Guess the producer wanted to build up all the goofiness to really make us feel for the characters when they die.

For the last battle, Joe trains Seshimaru how to fully use his powers. Together, Lion Maru and Tiger Joe head off to what's gonna be the biggest and most desperate battle for them yet.[/HIDE]

Ohara Go showed me his Action Director's Cut versions of all the fights up till now and there's TONS that have been cut out by TV Tokyo. Mainly for time constraints. Hopefully they'll include them on the DVDs when they come out.

Ohara was also the action director for Akihabara@Deep just so that you know.

Wow, really great episode this week and so much going on. Shishitora (or Kagemaru) becomes a host at Dreamin, Jounosuke ask's Shishimaru for help in getting Saori ( ), Junior employs Saori to steal Kinsachi from Shishimaru! Everything resulting in the brutal event at the end of the episode.

I really enjoyed the quiet moment in the middle of the episode between Kashin and Shishimaru where the two kinda reflect on how Shishimaru has changed. It was a nice calm before the storm moment.

One thing I found particularly interesting in this episode is how evident it is now that Junior's Cosplay mania is driven by his desire to transform, thus his want of Kinsachi. I wonder if his Tetsujin Gousan 7 (really funny reference to another P-Pro hero) guise in the begining of the episode is a foreshadowing of him switching sides in the upcoming battle.

Next episode looks good, I'm looking forward to it. I wonder just how long Lion-Tiger will stick around next week...

Second to last episode! Lion-Tiger sucked, don't see why they bothered with him at all. Loved the costume anyway. The interaction between Shishimaru and Jounosuke was funny. Junior going nuts was great. The fight between Kashin Koji and Gousan was awesome but brutal.

Not much to say except I love this show, it sucks that the finale's come so quickly. I'm looking forward to it though.

After seeing the first two episodes my first impression of the show was that it was, well, very different from other things I've seen and I didn't like it so much. Now that someone has explained the story and some of the finer details to me, I finally understand and enjoy the show ... even Junior whom I found just weird at first now really grabs me and he really fits in the whole New Kabuki District theme. The action is pretty impressive as well and the little gags (which have finally become clear to me) are very enjoyable.

I've been liking Lion Maru G from the start, and it sucks to know it's ending soon. =(

Lion-Tiger was relatively lousy. He probably got overcome by the power of the two skull eyes combined.

Final episode! Not so exited about it though, it was rather weak. I wasn't really expecting anything great though considering how much this show reminded me of Rosetta and Vanny, the latter having one hell of a messed-up ending...

The massacre was kinda pointless, probably done just for the sake of it. Even though I hated some of the characters that were killed, they didn't deserve to die. Training montage was okay, would have liked to see Lion Maru and Tiger Joe sparring one last time. The final battle was badass though, but that ending went a little too far and was actually somewhat anticlimactic. The final scene was redeeming though for me and a nice high note to go out on.

Overall I did love this series, beginning and endings weren't that great but there are some great moments in between. I can only hope that this is just the first of many more P-Pro remakes with another return to the Lion Maru series down the road.

Just got through episodes 8-13 today. Lion-Tiger wasn't the greatest, but I think with a longer series, he could have worked a lot better. I'm really going to miss this series, for the time they had, they did almost everything in a great way. I actually loved the ending, could have been better with another episode, but what we got was good. Is Shishimaru dead now? I really couldn't understand the last few minutes.

Here's to hoping we get a sequel sometime down the line, the series was really fun and interesting. 26 episodes would have been perfect for the series, the 13 we got felt a little rushed in places, but overall it was a fun watch. If we don't get a sequel, I hope we at least get another toku like this. I'd love to see older toku remade in this style, Red Baron would be interesting like this.

Just watched the final episode. Excellent episode though I'm not going to give away any spoilers. The extra ending after the ending was funny.

Okay that ending was just...

PS: Is Keita Amemiya's next project going to be a toku based off of the anime Saiyuki???
